Been rubbing Six10 on it daily for two weeks and no problems at all now.

Make sure you give it enough time to cure before you go in the water.
You know the drill. Bathroom, fan, 6 weeks, etc, etc

You youngsters, in my day it was chicken wire an house bleach.

And cling wrap.

The great thing about a forum is the pooling of knowledge. combined wisdom. Experts in technique (possibly previous PWA sailors), experts in board manufacture and repair (even designers of current big name boards) experts in health care (professionals who treat 100 back pain patients a week for 25 years..). All just one question away, right at our fingertips. Don't you love this forum.

So if you have a lower back spasm baby it, and massage it!, and maybe go see your doctor too, muscle relaxants are supposed to help, but I have never tried them. But avoid stretching it until till it settles down. Seems my lower back muscles have a memory, and the muscles need a week or so of no spasms to reset. Then, once they reset, will add a daily stretching routine to keep them limber, and also add abdominal strengthening exercises to help with good posture.

Yes, massage really helps the most, using hands or a vibrating massager on low, and if I do feel a little spasm/strain I massage lower back right away and it resets lower back without any lingering pain

But again, the funny thing is lower back is not sore, and that is why I never used to massage it when I had lower back spasms.

Now when I am sitting on a stool for a while, I will massage my lower back even though I have no discomfort or pain, and then when I stand up I feel fine.

Looked at videos on www.spine-health.com/conditions/lower-back-pain/videos, really good explanation for lower back pain and spasms. Recommended heat and ice, heat was okay, but after ice/cold pack lower back felt really good, no more mini spasms. Went and did the two different stretches for the lower back (knees left and right, and knees to chest) and back feels good, still healing but no more mini spasms so over the hump!

He was just saying thanks for all the health care tips and that after this he'll never see a licensed health care professional again. From now on he'll get all his medical advice from random people that have Googled stuff and posted it on Seabreeze.

Read that tight hamstrings contribute to lower back pain, my hamstrings are tight, back to doing touch the toes stretch. Need to add that to my regular routine. Did another ice and stretch routine last night, felt much better this morning, a little tightness in lower back when initially standing up out of bed, but no mini spasms even when bending over to touch my toes. So big improvement. Ice really helped to reset the muscles in my lower back, and Arnica is all I now need to treat the now minor lower back pain. Hopefully, in a couple of days will be back to normal.

Yeah easy to ignore good solid advice that way.

Anyway, I finding a daily reminder of seated pike and nothing else to be absolutely fascinating. Bit like a kids diary stuck in a loop.

No no, not 6 minute abs SEVEN MINUTE ABS

No No No seated pike y'all

Mr Keen, they are all on my hidden list (them and a few more), so out of sight out of mind
And Clarkee, thanks for the laugh! After what I have been through I could really use the help of Arthur's assistant to get in my stretches!

Here are two youtube videos (ad at the end for 1st, in middle for 2nd) for lower back stretches by a physical therapist, I followed along with the 1st video and afterwards my lower back felt good and normal with no pain or discomfort, really surprised. Quick and easy to do. I am now thinking my real problem may be windfoiling and the workout it gives my hips, gotta stretch before and after each session!

OK can we move this to the general forum and delete all but about 3 posts then lock it?
Objective - achieved. Unless it is sandman's personal blog now, hosted by Laurie?

After doing the stretches in the 2nd video I am back to feeling normal, no issues with lower back. What I realized is the yoga class I used to go to at my local gym takes me through just about all of the stretches in the two videos, plus extra ones. Will be going back to the class this week!

now that I can stretch without having mini spasms, I discovered a pulled/tight muscle running from my left lower back/spine to my left hip joint, took a few long stretching sessions but that muscle is now relaxed. When I had the mini spasms they were right where that muscle crossed my lower back. So that looks like the cause of it all this time, but preventative stretching is really the way to go, and that is what I will be doing.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful comments!

Hey rider, unfortunately I can not see your post and a number of other posts as well (but can see you posted on the main page), when someone makes unhelpful comments unrelated to a given topic I hide their posts, and so you must have done that in the past.

Why don't you start a post on something important to you?

And a big thanks to Laurie for allowing posts to be hidden, really cleans up this topic!
