Yes I'm friends with Mark, are you homophobic as well as racist? If we were more than just friends would that really matter?

It really would matter , because you could then expect to get your board fixed for free

Hips and lower back getting tight is a problem for anyone foiling, but guessing it is more of an issue as you get older, that seems to be the case for me. Still not sure what caused me to stop using my abs and so strain my lower back muscles, I see overweight guys with these large stomachs sticking out all the time, maybe I was subconsciously copying them?

But makes me wonder how those guys manage without lower back problems, certainly not using their abs much or at all.

Oh no! now overweight shaming as well?

Excuse me , I swing my gut around as weight distribution . Imagine a ballet dancer carrying a slab of beer while dancing . That's me

Boy, never imagined my post on lower back stretching would reach so many people and stay at the top of the topic list for so long!

Glad I was able to reach so many people, even those without a back bone

So it has been three days since the 1 hr "advanced" yoga class, do not recommend doing that right off the bat for a lower back issue, my lower back felt good but it took ibuprofen Arnica and ice to get my hips back to normal by today, did not realize how tight my hips were. And starting to notice that I am automatically using my abs when sitting on a stool and just walking around, the yoga really helped with that since you need to use your abs for the different poses. So will be adding that to my routine, as well as some easy stretches before I get out of bed every morning, knees bent with feet on mattress and then rotate knees to left and right, and then wrap arms around knees and pull to chest.

You guys, the ones I have hidden and most of you know that because I told you (the rest should have assumed I hid them by now) make me think of when a big dog gets walked around a bunch of little dogs, we all have seen it, the little dogs go nuts barking at the big dog, while the big dog just walks on by ignoring them. Or in my case laughing, just seeing that one of you hidden guys have posted on the main page makes for a good laugh, thanks for all the laughs! and for keeping this a top topic, the more people who read about my back issues the better IMO.

So back to the main topic, it is really an odd feeling to be using my abs all the time now when walking, standing, sitting on a stool, or getting up from a chair and recliner. But as long as my abs are working my lower back feels good, but the minute I stop using my abs by lower back lets me know by tightening up, but not like a full spasm, because there is no after effect from the tightening just reminds me to use my abs!

And now as soon as I feel tension in my lower back I lay down and bend my knees bringing heels close to hips and then flex knees together left and right using a hand to help push them over, hear the vertebrae popping and feel the release of the tension. Feeling good and like I am just about back to normal.

Got up this morning and really felt like I am healing good! A little tightness between the hips and lower spine, but that is likely from the yoga, not spasm related. Will keep stretching and massaging, and will get maybe two yoga classes in this week, was the only guy last time

For all the foilers, really try to get some regular hip and lower back stretching in, foiling is a lot more dynamic than windsurfing when it comes to the hips. Thinking my hips were tight from foiling and not stretching, and that put more strain on my lower back.
