It is getting colder here as Winter approaches the Northern hemisphere, and while I have a good full 3/2 wetsuit, I prefer to wear a 1.5 mm front zip long sleeve top, with 1.5 mm pants. Problem is I get cold in that two piece outfit around 70-72 degrees F. Today decided to try adding my kayak pullover surf jacket (waterproof nylon shell) over the 1.5 mm front zip jacket, perfect! Temps dropped from 72 to 67 degrees F in about 10-12 knots max and I never got cold. The 3/2 is a pain to take off when wet and requires extra arm effort compared to the 1.5 mm top which is not noticeable arm wise. Also the separate top and bottom are easier to rinse and dry versus a full wetsuit.

Try wearing a t shirt underneath the top.

I wear a surfing rash-guard under the neoprene top, but still feel evaporative cooling, the kayaking surf/spray top stopped the evaporative cooling.

We use yachting spray jackets over the top of wetsuit and impact vest. This eliminates the wind chill factor of evaporating water in absorbent material. Makes a huge difference.

Try a sharkskin top - they're close to wind proof, lite and are great with just a pair of boardies compared to a trad rashie.

A few bucks more but 100x better than a rashie

Doesn't help much having windproof next to the skin, it's got to be on the outside of any absorbent material.
Wind on wet makes cold! That's how evaporative airconditioners work.

We had around 27F (-3C) this weekend, I felt very warm on the body with a C-skins 6/5 wetsuit, without anything extra. Had problems with ice building up on the boom though, it makes it very slippery...

I bring some hot water in a small thermos so that I can defrost the downhaul line etc. for de-rigging on land. Needed to use it on the harness too, in order to remove it...

Love the kayak jacket too! I used a 1mm shortie + 1 4/3 long everything wetsuit + kayak jacket. A tighter hoodie and closed mitts when very cold.

The jacket made the wet suit almost a dry suit.

Yeah that's a good trick. Ice stops the evaporative cooling.
