I'm conbsidering getting one - most test reports are positive.

Does anyone have any experience of sailing one in Perth conditions ? e.g. SCarbs ? I'm looking to get it as a light wind board I'm 68Kg and want something thats good for those lightwind wave days, but also can be used for practising swiss manouevers (freestyle).

Cheers

I work for the distributor but believe i am capable of giving a good review.

The board is loose as and if you are able to get up and under a pitching lip this thing will fling you into onshore airs you never believed were possible.

If you are just open face carving (yawn !) then you wont really discover the magic of this board.

For early planing she is relatively rockered so it wont get planing as early as a Fish of some acids but the pay off is the sweeter lip action.

For the amount of rocker in the Evo it does plane early due to the increased nose and tail widths which make it sail bigger than 80 litres. Scotty was shoving one of these around at the nats and they are as boosty and loose as anything (or more so) that you will find - you just have to put the Evo into sections - if you just wanna carve then i reckon a Fish , Acid would be better.

The Evo 80 loves a 5.7 and can hold bigger. The Evos are really nice in Cross off too but you want to use less sail size due to the lift that you will get from the wider tail.

In the jumps these boards are super balanced - late forwards and planing forwards are now easily possible due to the low swing weight.

For backies the wide nose makes landing easy , the low swing weight makes late push loop flips possible as the board is so balanced.

For Freeestyling i reckon it will be ok apart from the early planing features that most would expect from a Freestyle board. The Evo slides backwards pretty well if you LEAN FORWARD.

Hope this helps - these are my experiences from riding Gnaraloo , Scarbs and Lanno.

I haven't ridden the 70 so i cant compare.

Scotty loves the 70 for down south- windy and real waves. I have heard from team riders and customers that even the 70 will carry a 5.7 (just) and that it planes nearly as early as the 74 -we're only talking 4 litres difference here. As an all rounder i would go to the 70 if i was 78kg or less - go the 74 if above 78 kg.
