Oh yeah? Where are the field studies and double blind tests? It could have been that Ian was sailing particularly carefully in fear of a substandard repair

Next time, you need a control board.

For what its worth, I think Actiomax's repair was a bit more in-depth than it needed to be. I didn't see the original damage though, so maybe it was?

I would have just done it like the boardlady does. I laminate the box in sections of divinycell, sand it flat so that it gives a nice rectangular shape, and then route out that same size in the board.

You can then place the box in the board, and use a texta to mark the top of the box where you need to cut it. Once you have trimmed the box, you can then insert it into the board with a paste, and then layer it back in with glass.

Its relatively simple and doesn't require too many accurate measurements and cutting. The paste takes up a bit of the slack between the hole and the box.

Since when did anybody need field studies and double blind tests to prove anything on Seabreeze, this is a logic free zone...

My control was the sailor, who still thinks he's sailing a Bombora Astro Toy, and sails accordingly (tries to sheet in and sail through the waves, not around). The proposal that an Old Windsurfer™ could change his style is just ridiculous! And therefore was excluded as a potential variable.

No, you are right, field studies and double blind tests are needed for anything obvious, but outlandish 'facts' are accepted on face value.

Oh, I see you noticed the logic free zone bit... as you were.

Myself, I can only prove bad repair techniques. My first repair was a new nose for my Mistral Flow. It seems that carbon over styrofoam works fine, but doesn't last long when impacted by a mast. Who would have thought divinycell and glass makes a difference?
