Worth checking out the nxp (neil pryde) steamers retail for under $300 and better than my previous oneil $600. They are 4/3 which I thought may be abit restrictive but found it real flexy. Best steamer I've ever had. Got cool little windsurf extras like little water vents in the ankles so you don't get balloon leg happening well with a look

They might be a bit of an overkill for us. It's about 30 degrees and water temp of 25 at the moment. Had to wear a rashy cause it was a bit cloudy the other day. Got to love the tropics.

Is that someone's head in the water after just being eaten by a crocodile - I'd rather chance the white pointers down this way any day - those crocs just look to freeken scary

Learn to drink too much beer and stay away from the beach and go pig hunting (native pigs don't have mexican hat dance swine flu) would probably be a safer past time!!

Sorry to side track from the wetsuit question - 2/3/sealed seem and a roaster vest works pretty well in SA for winter.

Where are the white caps 30 degrees, water temp of 25 degrees and 5 knots of wind = perfect conditions for swimming and BBQing

Jb,
It's npx sorry, I think it's a side a side brand of pryde. Killer wetties though.

Lord Howe - I got myself a Flying Objects wettie a while back. Got talked into it by a mate who'd tried one, as I didn't really need a new suit. But I'm pretty happy he did! Way more flexible than the Oneill I had, with a couple of things that really help;
The sleeves are setup for windsurfing which means I don't get cramp in my forearms like I used to.
And the ankles are setup so you can lock them off to stop the balloon effect.

The warmth is insane - I got the 3/2, but it's night and day compared to my Oneill 3/2. Think it's due to how sealed it is. The seams look pretty industrial on the inside with slick silver stuff glued on every seam.
Can definately recommend one.

When that photo was taken it was about 13-15 knots 300 meters off the beach. That is on the lee side of Green Island.

I can only second Dan's comment. I currently have an o'Neil Psycho 2. It's a great wet suite BUT like most wet suits available here in Australia it's made with surfing in mind.

As such I find the flex style material is not that well suited for windsurfing. It seems to hold a small amount of water on the outer layer. Just enough to cause a cool down effect from evaporation once you get out of the water. When it gets really cold I usually wear one of those Windwarrior Blast shields over the top (which has a smooth skin lining on the inside) to keep me warm.

Sadly when I was shopping for a wet suite last year none of the shops had a Neil Pryde available in my size. Certainly would have been a better bargain buy.

I can see where you're have a problem shedgler. I think the biggest size they have is xxxl, I guess they assume that if your any bigger than that the blubber should act as enough insulation.
Ps sorry you left youself wide open to that one, couldn't resist

I think it may have been a looooong time since you were able to shop in the kids section my friend. Don't worry about general siziing though I'm sure you could get a custom made.

1) I am not fat... just big boned. plus the beer gut is all Kevo and his brothers fault... to much homebrew on those WA trips.

2) I don't think I have ever purchased anything from the kids section (even when I was a kid)... and I am not even that tall. A mate of mine back in Germany is 6.8, has shoe size 52 and makes me look like a male nourished dwarf ... yes, he does (has) played professional professional volley ball in case you wonder...

... age and the inevitable slow down in metabolism will catch up with you too my friend... unless those cigarettes kill you before hand. Bummer isn't? Stop smoking -> get fat... Keep smoking -> potentially die of cancer or loose a leg

... the world can be cruel.

Coming back to the original topic... what model was the Neil Pryde wetsuit you had Sunday a week ago?

I'm interested in one of those myself. I bought an O'Neil S2 last year - 2 mm no titanium lining, taped seams. The tape peeled off the seams in no time. I don't know if that matters but it's NOT warm enough. I had a West 3/2 a while back and it was just right in nearly every way. I'm inclined to go for a 3/2 tripple-X but according to their blurb it would be overkill for Bris. It's a pity you can't try those things.

You might get a better response from the kite forum.

Padi flogs the tripple-X. You can catch up with him at the windwanderers meet on Sat.

I have a West 3/2, top of the range when I bought it 4 years ago. Super flexible and tough - it looks exactly the same as when I bought it. I recommend them.

Steller. I wear a triple-x 2mm mega stretch. Here in an Adelaide winter, I am slightly uncomfortable when in the water, but it's bearable (I'm normally out for 6 hour sessions). Other than that, it's good. In the autumn and spring, it was great.

Gaz: I can't see the west coast. Lee point way ?
