sue the graphs are accurate , what you will find is the n/east at pt perp is 5knts stronger than most place's in nsw, and stronger again at sanctuary point,

the reason it looks like you guys are getting more wind is because of the southerlies , i guess you could say the wind gods have been looking after you , the southerlies tend to be 5knts less at pt perp than the airport and nth coast, " after saying that " they arrive 3 hrs earlier at pt perp and most of the time its a bit late for you guys to sail even if theres more wind
sanctuary point is also probably one of the best places to sail in nsw, water is shallow for about 500mt so you can stand up if you dump your gear, but its 1 NM across for some good long runs , you don't need a weed fin unless you want to sail behind the weed bed ,

I try and get down to Sanctuary Point a few times a year and you don't need a weedy but there is weed for the first few hundred metres from the shore and a weedy makes life a lot easier. Most of the people I have seen there recently are using them or wave fins. I would bring one if you have it.

If you're down that way in January you at least have to check out Gerroa/7 mile beach if it's NE. Even if you don't want to sail it is spectacular to watch if there is a bit of swell & enough wind for wave-sailing. Don't pay too much attention to the Gerroa wind graph, I think it's on someone's roof or behind a wall or something like that.

I'd love to have a go back in the surf.If I've had some sailing at the clinic I might try and have a look.Only problem is I hate Sydney traffic and don't want to try and find my way around so I was going to go home via Mittagong..Is there a back way up to the southern highlands.. where is Jamberoo pass from Kiama area?

Don't you just double it? Yellow arrows seem to be good enough for 4.7s from what I hear. Today is the first time I've seen the Gerroa graph green. How windy was it down there?

I honestly think we get more sailing days then anywhere else on the east coast, Some thing always works no matter the wind direction. Sanctuary point always seems stronger then any other location down this way in a nor'easter, Lake Illawarra for the maddest westerlies and SP/Culburra/Callala or Windang for the southerlies. I got home today to Gerroa to find it gusting up to 30 knots, The wind tearing the spray from the top of the waves. Sadly there has been no swell for weeks at Gerroa, Most of the guys have been going down to the Heads for bigger waves. Ian is right about the yellow arrows at Gerroa, it usually means plaining 5.8 conditions for me. Red arrows are normally enough to get out for the waves. Sue, I really don't think you'll be disappointed...Unless we get totally no wind.

Classic Gerroa day today, Nothing on the seabreeze graphs and nothing on the Bom forecast. Well guess what, We were scrambling for our smallest sails. The PP wind charts show it gusting up to 21 knots NE but it had to a lot windier then that, I don't need a 5.0 for 20 knots.

...And there were some nice waves, A great New Year's Day sail

Well... Was a classic Wanda day down at Cronulla yesterday. Super clean. Head high in the bigger sets. Most guys on 5.0. And hardly anyone on the water.
