a friend of mine used to snap a boom every 3 or 4 months, even carbon prydes, sailworks etc.
he bought a loft and has had it for over a year now, with no signs of wear.
buy one north or pryde, or buy 2 loft. great product.

I bought a Loft 5.9 O2 and Loft rdm mast a couple of months ago. Did one catapult that totally destoyed a brand new Chinook boom (bent both arms in 2-3 planes) and yet no damage at all to the sail or mast. Have heard others that use their booms are very happy - and the price is excellent. I am very pleased with the Loft products - am ordering some more racier sails from them. But having said that I did replace the boom with another Chinook - I have always used Chinook booms and extensions, but if the replacement boom goes I will get a Loft boom.

I have 2 LOFT booms. I had to replace one as I hit a sand bank doing 30 knts, and had a very heavy stack , I think any boom would have been trashed, mind you I could still sail with it but it was'nt very pretty For the money the're hard to beat.

I bought a Loft boom at Christmas last year when my NP snapped. It lasted me until about October, when it snapped too.

It got replaced under warranty, but I was told that that the new boom has no warranty.

Don't Loft have faith in their product?

And the eBay price is the same as retail anyway.

The reason for that is, you cant get warranty on warranty.
When an item is replaced with a new item under warranty, that's the deal completed. If it didn't work this way, warranty wouldn't ever run out.
There are exceptions, like if the new item has a manufacturing defect and such.
Other than that, some suppliers will replace under a good will policy if your a regular customer, and they don't want to loose your trade (you spend huge with them)

but it should at least still cover you till the end of the original booms warranty period shouldn't it?? if it doesn't, you'll have more joy breaking multiple NP booms per annum

Tally for the last 18 months,
1 Low carbon 430 mast
1 High carbon 490 mast
1 sail panel
LOFT boom still hanging in despite being extended to max when destroying 490 mast.Luck I suppose but still really good value for money.
I know what boom I'm going to buy next time.

My Loft boom snapped during a gybe about 1km off Lennox Head beach. Not fun in those sharky waters! Thinking about it, it prob really snapped while hanging onto it in the shore dump immediately beforehand. Now I hang on to the mast.

I've snapped a few booms over the years, from various manufacturers. Loft booms are as good as any, and a fraction of the cost. Def recommend em.
