Cheers, just wondering whether anyone had sent a windsurf board with a courier.
Measures are roughly 290 x 70 x 15 cm and total weight just <15 kg.
AusPost do not send anything that size. I have received a quote from one courier at 320 $ which seems excessive. Thanks for any input.

If you are going metro to metro, based on that size, then you should pay about $80 door to door. If you get stuck PM me.

Just make sure it's packed properly. 3 layers of bubble, carboard on nose, tail and rails and in a carton. You can probably get a carton from your winfsurf shop.

Dont forget to take into account the rocker of the board when measuring the thickness.

I've used transdirect for a board before no problem. Depot to depot minimises risk a bit, if you can arrange it.
Lots of bad press on customer service but my dealings were pleasant enough!

yep - transdirect are good when things go smoothly, but completely useless when they don't

one piece of advice, make sure the labels are really securely attached and legible

i had a board and a sail shipped. the sail went well, no issues, but the board got lost and transdirect didn't want to know about it. the were impossible to contact and didn't follow up when i did get someone on the phone.

also worth pointing out, transdirect are not a shipping company, they subcontract the work to Toll IPEC and someone else. I'd go direct to Toll IPEC next time and not use them

If you can get it delivered to a business address, I'd recommend Australian Air Express.
I bought a board and had it shipped from Townsville to Melbourne for $75.
I remember there was an option to have it sent on a backfill run rather than express which took longer but saved $$$.
I couldn't fault the service- to the point that the truck driver transported the board in the passenger seat because he didn't want to ding it!

E-go must be in dare financial problems , because recently for every original quotation they do send me adjustment note that double the cost at least.
If item is too small they do simply put on pallet and measure

and weight that lot.
this for example shipment Gold coast to Cairns cost me almost $500 for mere 100 kg depot to depot !

Macro, you are aware that they will be using cubic volume aren't you? And if the object is difficult to handle they will be expecting it to be tied to a pallet.

Didn't someone already mention that you should take the initiative and design your own "pallet" or transport skid that would reduce this effective volume and need for the courier to just whack it on a pallet?
