I've used transdirect for a board before no problem. Depot to depot minimises risk a bit, if you can arrange it.
Lots of bad press on customer service but my dealings were pleasant enough!

yep - transdirect are good when things go smoothly, but completely useless when they don't
one piece of advice, make sure the labels are really securely attached and legible
i had a board and a sail shipped. the sail went well, no issues, but the board got lost and transdirect didn't want to know about it. the were impossible to contact and didn't follow up when i did get someone on the phone.
also worth pointing out, transdirect are not a shipping company, they subcontract the work to Toll IPEC and someone else. I'd go direct to Toll IPEC next time and not use them
