...is a helmet necessary for flatwater on the Goldie??? Is it really that gnarly?

Can anyone recommend a good brand, where to buy, price range etc??

The only helmet I've ever sailed with is the one in my pants....

i think as haircut is the most ardical sailor on the broadwater and if he doesn't wear a helmet i think that no-one should wear one. its only water

Helmets are a must for sailing at the train, they help when you hit sand bars and get your head wedged in the mud . They are also usefull when sailing at currumbin, as you can use your head as a battering ram to get through the surfers on the point.
