Well... today in Melbourne it was FREEEEEZING, but super windy, so of course we went out for a sail...

It was only a matter of time before my mates 5.0mtr Naish from about 2000 was about the blow out, and it had to be today...

Let me just give you a small idea of how cold it was today.

Today it snowed in the not so high mountains, and in my old mans car, it was 6 Degree's.

Anyway, so the session was getting really good, nice waves etc etc, and my mate boosted of a wave and went head first through his sail...

We were pretty far out, so we thought towing would be the best option, we got about 10mtrs when we both had to stop because he couldnt hold on to my back foot strap for any longer...

So this got me thinking... What Is the best way to tow someone to shore, when its windy and wavey and hard to sail??

Thanks Guys!

Peace Steve

Take the spare piece of rope you allways carry in your harness pocket. tie to back strap and mast of broken board.

Go find a kite boarder for you mate if you can, I got towed about a K in 25 knots by a kiter once and it was easy.
Derig your sail and roll up etc, lay on your board & gear and grab hold of the kiter's rear harness handel while he lays on his board under chest. When we did it we flew in, took no time at all.

You grab him on the fly like in that early Nicole Kidman movie, before Tom made her famous. All this whilst you're reading a book and clipping your toe nails.

Then you get the girl somehow (shower scene here), even though you haven't mentioned her in the post.

As Firiebob said, derig, and lay on your gear. We used my uphaul to tow (me) in, the mate that towed me (Chef) couldn't sail for a couple of weeks due to buggering his knee though.
