Hi MPL,

best place to launch from at victoria point is thomsons beach.

at low tide you need to walk over sand about 100m to the beach. at high tide just launch straight off the foreshore.

for wind direction i sail there on a SE, E, S, SW and occasionally a NE, but with a NE it is gusty and not the best location.

the one wind direction that most people agree upon is during a Southerly,

some people fell that during a SE when the wind is less than 20 knots VP is a little gusty. but i've never had any probs and prefer it to wello in a SE.

VP has one of the best speed runs in SE qld. at low tide it stays dead flat in winds at 30 knots. like glass. BUT, you goota sail out to the bank and it is very bumpy on the way out there.

other than that the place has great light to mod wind cruising, you can sail for kilometers no probs. it also is superb for bump and jump off thomsons beach. gets a nice 1-2 foot wind chop when the southerlies are howling.

Booties aren't they for girls
I'm with Elizabeth. The only time I've worn them I got really bad blisters.

Suzie.....

I wouldnt be without em...

I was introduced to them by a girl from Melbourne.

apparently at the time Melbournites wore them and Sydneyites...didnt.

i bucked the trend and became a Masonite...and wear them.

never hurt my feet since my first fateful sail where I received a spine/spike in my foot.

no matter how daggy or blistery...I shall never relinquish my trust in booties....nor looking like some goofy "elf" in black booties.

locally - you can judge if you need them or not depending on the area, overseas well you might need them if you go for a windsurfing holiday.
i was in the Carribean about 3 years ago, all the water looked great untill i found a sea urchin or something like that sticking out of my foot. Apperntly a pair of booties would of stopped it, my foot swelled up to twice the size in 30 minutes then after 2 hours was back to normal, due to the local brew i was drinking at the time saved my life i think. mmmmm beeeer

How about this! We have a chap on the gold coast puts his boots on walks to the beach until knee high in water takes them off and puts them up his vest!Always makes me giggle.
