finally after 7 weaks of no action im back on the water.(after broken ankle).. im only on a SUP and i am not using straps constantly but im plaining and doing a bit of wave riding, and life is good...

out at lano today and some of the ocean swell behind main break was good shoulder to head high, just tacking onto the face and riding it all the way into main break. and gybing just before the reef to go out for more.

had a go on a goya freewave as well im in the straps and everything fine, but i wouldnt trust my ankle yet to go out too far because i am finding it hard to keep enough pressure on the food to keep it flat.

any way had to express my stoked(iness) and what better

Broken ankles are bad (not as bad as dislocated shoulder, but thats another story)...I did mine when I was 17 and it took me out of sailing for about 2 months, was a long 2 months.

All the best with the recovery.

its not definate, but what is thought by two physio's is that it would it just as likey for it to have been cracked because of the way keeps swelling in the same areas and where it is tender, but it didnt need an xray because it is treated the same way as if it wasnt broken, and just tendon and tissue damage

You're doing better than our local crew......there's only 6 of us!

1 has gone over to Lancilin.....
1 has picked up work in WA (FIFO).....

as for us left, last weekend.....

*One guy snapped mast, and twisted ankle (stuck in strap!)
*Another nose-dived a jump, internal bleeding in thigh, thought is was just a 'corky' (wearing pressure bandage)
*Me.....back seized up (lower back & cyatic nerve), still struggling to straighten up!

No wind at the moment, so, no biggie, I guess?!?

That sucks Jordo
good to hear your back on the water. How did you do it?
I dislocated my ankle when i broke my leg and I found when I got back on the water (finally!) my leg was strong (maybe becasue there was a metal plate and about 9 screws in it!) but my ankle was really weak so i started wearing a ankle brace.
Its a motocross ankle brace made by 661 and it works really well.
I trash them all the time becasue of the grip tape of the board but i am still wearing it most of the time espesially in waves. so maybe give something like that a try. its heaps easyer than tapeing every sail...Good luck with it!

KA, i did it during a helitack. as the sail swung around the mast and rail of the board came together with my ankle between it.
