Hi everyone,

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am new to the Australia, living in Sydney. I am very keen to get sailing, deseratly seeking new kit, (sold all my gear in UK rather than shipping it) I have posted before but only just got my profile sorted, so if you blanked me before please say Hi now, I know I am new here but totally genuine.

See you on the beach,

hey jonny, welcome to Aus. there's some great sailing spots in sydney, flat and waves, so get yourself into your nearest shop for some gear and some good advice.

don't neccessarily buy the sort of gear you had back home, listen to the guys and make sure you end up with equipment that not only suits you but also suits the places you think you might want to sail.

my number one tip for windsurfing in sydney (esp Northern Beaches) is either get hold of a locals parking sticker or carry lots of coins for those meters! the parking inspectors are lethal and will ruin your day in a heartbeat!

enjoy sydney. cold now but come summer you'll be sailing in boardies.

Hi Jonny,
Welcome to Australia....pitty you picked the wrong state!
I am from the UK As are about 50% of the Gold Coast windsurfers....you have to import quality.
You will find the range of kit and brands available quite diffrent from blighty but theres enough around if you dont mind buying from pics posted on various sites around the net.
Some of the guys talk fondly about various areas around Sydney airport for the sailing....one guy is always telling me about the gays in the bushes...keep an eye out(not sure why hes always telling me).
Winter will be over in a few weeks, still better than an English summer though!!!

Jonny,

Welcome to Oz! I'm from the UK and sail in Sydney - there aren't actually that many UK sailors in Sydney. I sail with one but that's about it. What sailing do you do and what kit are you looking for? Where in Sydney are you living?

Cheers

Thanks for the replies, I will address some of them in no particular order

"Gays in Bushes....fine by me, so long as they keep themselves to themselves, would rather find a gay in a bush than one of the many deadly f***in snakes or spiders I have read about!!

I am based in Randwick, living the life of a soccer mom, without the kids, so plenty of free time, at least till Sept.

Looking for xcite ride 110, am moving down from the xcite ride 135 Fingers crossed my skills are ok for this small but significant step.

Am currently talking advice and quotes on kits so should be sorted soon.

Did not really choose Sydney it chose me, since this is where the missus works , but so far having to say that I am lovin it, especially if this as bad as winter gets!!!!!
