Yesterday, Sunday 28jan07 @ 5pm. No less than 5 jet skiers that were sitting on the beach were asked to drive 300meters to help a stranded windsurfer. All said "Na Mate", even when offered petrol money.
I wonder why everyone bans them from places where people actually respect the water and people using it?.......Anyway I reported it to the Maritime Authority as i believe it is usual for motor craft to help poeple in distress?
Anyone who has any issues with Jet skis on Botany Bay please call Trevor Newman from the Maritime Authority on 0418 460 293. He is on the water and will logde the complaints....Sorry to B*tch on the Forum, but can't think of anyway to get the message accross....

Very dissapointing!!!!!!

Was lucky had some tow-in surfers here in Mandurah, using Jetskis, and they went out of their way, putting themselves in danger in a 3.5mt swell to save my ass, I was in big trouble without them. Maybe their surfing background made them different??

A fair while ago, I was about a K off shore on my own, and flying in good wind towards shore. When a jet skier cut across the front of me going flat out also, missed me by about 2M, I kid you not. Came from behind upwind, and crossed at 45 degrees.
What the f**k was he thinking, I was thinking of beer in car fridge, so it scared the s**t out of me.
I guess he was showing off, not realizing how fast I was going
If I had a gun, I would have shot the f**ker [}:)]

Those jet skiers are a nightmare, last time I was at Botany a guy was sat on his jetski about 50 metres out with a doughnut on a 25 metre rope downwind of him. He was sat right by the windsurf launch spot, least it gave me some super-x jumping practice....

Gotta agree here. The other thing you have to watch out for is the peanuts coming out of the Cooks River from their launch sight. Flat chat and not a care in the world.
Its obvious they dont realise how fast a sailboard can travel and think a twist of the wrist will pass anybody.
They do like to congregate on the shore near the pool. I was always under the impression they are banned withing 100 meters of shore except when launching and retrieving.
This is the case on the Northern Beaches.
Please do as Brett asks and report the tools. That way someone might get saved from being cleaned up and its not just us windsurfers.
Cheers

a nice handful of sand in the fuel tank while they're on the beach would be a good solution

The guys who do that crazy speed waterskiing aren't much better! They fly up and down without caring that there mate is on a bit rope... it's always so tempting to scare him/her a little...

Stranded in Botany Bay? Gimme a break. Many a time I've drifted/swum back to the beach. Even midweek,in winter.

Asking a Jetskier for help? Where's your pride?

Everyone knows that Jetskis are the hottest item in Darlinghurst. Like the song says..."Fill it up with gas, Stick it up your ass"
