She's got more bollox than I do!

Had two genuine attempts up at Gnaraloo this week, both times ended up getting scared and letting go of the boom. Which is apparently the worst thing that you can do...

Cheers for the link

Be a girl and have a go.
I busted the loopin' cherry at Maui this year and found that it is nowhere near as bad a a catapult.
Catpults are liking hurling a grand piano with a mangonel, starts slow and ends fast.
Loop attempts are the opposite, start fast and end slow.
I watched the "El Toro" youtube and came away shamed into trying it.
Had a few go's the day before my lesson to get over the hoodoo.
Have not had a chance to follow up yet since coming back, but the Matt Pritchard clinic is not far off. He has some very good youtubes as well.
You don't want a big wave, just a bit of chop and cheese roll it.

Well done!

So are you cheese rolling or forward looping?

Starting with the cheese roll.
If I'm not mistaken, that's pretty much where everyone starts and when Cesare first did it, it was considered a forward loop, cos your body does a full forward rotation, even though the rig takes a short-cut.
Haven't had any water time to progress it yet. Hell wind this weekend and I'm working. Grrrr!!
You've probably seen it, but the El Toro youtube shows the progression to a full forward nicely.

i know this thread was actually a plug for that website, but this is a very good website for just about anything windsurfing trick related.!

www.roynbartholdi.com everything from waterstarting to the craziest of tricks i will never do.

Also, nebs for your forward, if your gonna chicken out ( which u shouldnt haha ) dont let go, just stop sheeting in.

But thats not the point! actually you should sheet in harder and get it over with.
i had heaps of trouble cos i kept on looking forwards and just catapulting.

Start off on a 12-15knt day with average swell, wear a steamer to protect from slappage (and a gath is a goog idea.)

While your cruzing UNDERPOWERED slightly off the wind, find a lump, jump it, throw head and shoulders foward, sheet in, and loop. If you hold on you will rotate.

You probebly wont land it but its the `going for it` you`ll sus.
It`s more the anticipation of looping, like jumping a motorbike or catching a big wave, once you`ve done it you`ll say to yourself `that was sick!` and you`ll be addicted.

Then next time you`re out on a powered up day, thats were the fun begins!
but remember too keep your wetty on.
Hope this helps.

I started off doing small forwards off little waves. You only get hurt when you let go.
