Does any one know where in Geelong I can get windsurfer lessons? I have checked the Yellow Pages but none seem to be listed. After reading what others have posted previously about lessons, I think I want to get a few so I can get the basics right to start with.

There's a shop that deals in boating gear on Bellarine St. I think it's called 'Four Winds' or something like that. They used to deal in windsurfing gear but I guess the demand isn't about anymore. They will get you onto a guy. I know as I called them last year but found them a bit dear, so I bought an instructional DVD. (it worked!) Sailboard Headquarters in Melboune is running 3 clinics over the summer at Sandy Point. While it's miles away, it sounds like an awesome couple of days and definetly worth a look. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have been into Four Winds and had a look at what they have. They dont have much stuff and it is a bit expensive. I will head down to Torquay this week and check out Stonkers and see what they have etc. For a bayside city that seems to have ideal conditions for all water sports its a shame that the range of stuff avail down here is so poor.
As for the lessons, well I have contacted a few places and hope to start very shortly.

Four winds use to be a good windsurf shop, but it was taken over by a different owner a couple of years ago, and since has become more of a boating shop. Plus nobody who works there anymore really knows anything about windsurf stuff. Stonker does stock windsurf stuff, and they could order stuff in for you, as the owner use to windsurf alot, but kites more these days, but Melbourne is not far away for a look at what windsurf stuff is around.

You can teach yourself, most people have. You could get a training DVD. If you learn at Pt Henry (you must wear booties) you will see others out, and most people will be happy to give you some tips. If you start on a nice wide board, then this will make your early days/months easy.

Once you can sail ok and and are confident at uphauling, Torquay is a good spot, if it is 10-12 knots, low tide and onshore winds, which will be common from about Dec to March.

Good Luck
