If I have one sail that needs 10cm of extension, and another that needs 40cm of extension, is it ok to use a big extension for both, or is it bad to have so much of the big extension in the mast when only using 10cm of it???

Thanks,
Harrow.

From my understanding the concern is if you only have a small length of your extension in the mast. If your extension will go in and not hit your bottom bung I was told it was OK.

Well it's got to add a bit of unnecessary weight.
But the main concern, is mast bend. The chinook style extension is a smaller diameter tube with the right diam at bot ends, this allows the mast to flex. if the extension tube is a neat fit all the way, it impedes mast flex, proberly won't make too much difference, unless it's very long.
