Hi All

I have a Mistral Superlight and with the revival of longboards it is time to get it back on the water.

I need to replace the centreboard gasket and don't seem to be able to get one.

Any ideas where I might get one or where I might get suitable rubber that I can make a gasket from.

Search for Dobroyd Aquatic Club's Pat C. He's on the NSW Windsurfing site. He can probably put you onto Superlight owners who have put in new flaps.

Then get down to DAC each Saturday and for Wednesday twilights!

Man, you didn't have to wait for "the revival of longboards", y'know?? Longboards have always been cool; you get a great cruisy, gliding kind of ride in lighter winds, which almost feels like planing 'cos of the water slapping under the nose and the way the board cuts effortlessly thru the water... you can get back to the beach in all manner of currents and unfavourable winds, thanks to the magic daggerboard... and you can basically sail all day and never fall off!!

Anyway, as for your question, I've seen someone replace an old gasket; you just need a strip of rubber cut to size, attached (with superglue?) and then split down the middle. It's not exactly ideal but it works... have fun!!

...Ahh, longboards...

Sometimes using rubber strip for the gasket makes the centreboard stick. The rubber rolls into the gab between the centreboard and the case and jams it. Another material is heavy dacron, fold it in two and sew down the edge. Bond on with araldite. All the Speed boards were done this way and it works great.
