Hi, I've just picked up a second hand Torquay board as an attempt to step up (or down, if we're talking size) from a windsurfer one design. I have a sail, boom and mast to suit, but need to pick up a mast base. It comes with a
track for the mast base - will any of the modern mast bases fit this (eg the Chinook), or will I need a specific type? Looking at some of the pictures it looks like they may have a bolt on the bottom that fits into the track?

This is a picture of the board.

Yes 100% modern standard. Chinook, Streamlined, and all the major manufacturer's ones like NP, Gaastra, Aeron, Arrows etc etc

I was going to recommend the best but I think you may be on a budget?

Get anything secondhand with a tendon (bendy bit) that has two bits of downhaul rope either side of the tendon and put a new tendon in it. Secondhand bases are fine if the ally and bolts are not corroded but not worth the risk using an old tendon.

Thanks Mark, I really appreciate that. Re the budget, yes I'm pacing myself - figured I'll give myself a chance to get into it again and try not to let loose too much with the spending until then. Though I get the impression that can backfire if you get the wrong gear. These forums seem really useful in that way.
