Hello - may I ask, I have a Moto 7,8 but the bottom end isnt doing it for me. There are some cheap deals going. Would a new Mach5 7,8 be equivalent to getting a Moto 8,4 in bottom end ? For sailing on flat water. Kinda fancy a Mach, and getting a 7,8 rather than larger means I wouldn't have to get a new boom and mast.

Typically a 4 cam race sail improves top end when compared to the same / similar size 2 cam sails. Bottom ends of similarly sized sails would be the same. Hence being a bigger sail, the bottom end of a Moto 8.4 would be better than the bottom end of a Mach 7.8

A 8,4 is a great add to the Quiver ...don't waste your money on another 7,8 if you already have one even though the 7,8 M5 is a great sail ..I have one .good power .but 8,4 feels way bigger and great to have on the lighter days .maybe even look for a 8,5 or 8,6 .2nd hand 😎

Mach sails have a higher upper end, but not a lower low end. If your Moto 7.8 isn't enough for low end, get a Moto 8.4 or a Mach 8.5/8.6
I myself don't have Motos, but have an Overdrive M4 7.8, an Overdrive M3 8.6 and a Mach 5 8.6. The Mach sails are just beasts - they pull you onto a plane and through lulls like a freight train.
Highly recommended if you are an experienced slalom sailer, but beware of the weight, the long boom needed, the center of effort far back.
Overdrives are a tad easier to sail/waterstart if you can still get one, need substantially less boom length and are just as fast for us hobby sailors.
