I have a new NP sail with the luff of 469. Also I have a NP X6 430 and a NP X3 460 both SDM, my alloy extension goes up to 48.
My question is which would work the best, the 430 X6 with the extension on 40 over the X3 460 with the extension on 10?
Cheers!

With my limited knowledge i would say the 460.
Plus you are less likely to suffer gear failure due to the stress applied when using the extension at such a length.

What is the recommended mast? I guess the 460 also, but the 430 would still work OK

The 430 would feel softer and suit lightweight people

If using a 460 you don't want to use the 48cm extension, maybe a 20cm ish extension as otherwise you'll have too much up the mast

NP recommends both, the sail is last years Fusion 7.2
I never thought of having to much extension inside in mast. So really without buying a smaller extension just yet I may as well use the 430?
Thanks for the replys by the way

Go the 430 unless you are heavy, then it may feel a bit soft.

But if you want to use 460, you should be able to get a short SDM extension very cheap secondhand, they grow on trees
