Well not that new!

At last a forum for australian windsurfers (although this has probably been around for ages, excuse my ignorance) Just wanteed to introduce myself to the SA locals, you might have met myself and my better half, Kym, either at Boggy, Goolwa, Aldinga over the last 5 years, usually with a four year old in tow as well (next australian champion in the making)

Kym and I are pretty obsessed with windsurfing at the moment and find that work is now definately getting in the way. Something has to give.

We recently took two weeks off and headed to Maui to sail Kanaha, best holiday ever, met many local sailors, plenty of kiwis (cant see why they like Dave Dobbin so much!- there is a story about that!) sailed every day 4.5 - 5 winds! Stayed with Francisco and Lalo Goyas parents, had a dinner party with the whole family, bloody awesome family. Watched soccer with Pio Mascarone (Maui fin Company) and the Quatro crew, became an honourary Argentinian for two weeks! Cant wait for our next trip!

Hoping to meet a lot more of the local crew over summer,

peace!

Havent heard anyone talking about Sellicks for years. Does anyone still sail there? Was good fun when it worked. I imagine its probably built up by now.

Comrade Divaldo
I have outlaws live in Goolwa South Oz
I have sailed there many times, often on own
Maybe next time I come down we catch up and go wave sailing

I have sailed at Goolwa beach, Goolwa River(no waves), Middleton (Chicken Run I think) and off the western end of Port Elliot

Have surfed Wapinga many times but not for wave sailing... this must change yes ?

Comrade Kremlin, I only have a slalom board, so waves are a real challenge to me, but if you are around look us up, Kym (the bride) is a better sailor than me and has more competence in the waves...Goolwa = lake of the fickle wind

Boggy is best!

Hey Divaldo,
Boggy Rocks!
It was a good turn out on Saturday (25 windsurfers) , although the flooding was a pain. I sometimes sail Milang when I have the family in tow (3 year old girl and 6 month old boy). It has a great playground next to where you rig up.

Some of the regular crew a boogy are;

Geoff - burgandy Subaru outback
Paul Mac - Black SS wagon
Chris S - Black Magna wagon
Carl Mac - White Camry wagon
Leon - 1985 ford telstra (it just keeps going)
Chris R - Burgandy Nissan GU Patrol
Chris D - Dark Blue 100 series Cruiser
Steve S - Dark green 100 series
Sam - This week its a yellow 1978 toyota corolla but he will probably roll this one as well
Joe - Blue VP
Tim - White commadore wagon
Andreas - Nissan with monster truck tyres

All these guys are great blokes and extremely friendly but geez they can talk ****.
I know everytime I've seen you down there you are either rushing to get on the water or playing with your daughter but feel free to join in the dribble anytime.

Cheers,
Chris

I'm a fellow south aussie windsurfer however i live on K.I. have you ever come over here for windsurfing??? there are about 5 regulars over here and we are thinking of trying to run a bit of a social gathering/event over here in early Feb ( the best time for good sea breezes.) it wouldn't be anything special but it would be hopfully sponsered by sealink and im sure we could find some cheap accomidation. weather permiting it would be alot of fun! do you think any one over there would be interested????? regards chris.

have never considered KI as a sailing spot, maybe its the big fishies you have over there that have put me off.

February would be good timing for us,

Hey King of the Point
Who are you? This is Dave's other half, We are all still sailing. First sailed Sellicks gullys 21 years ago. Basically learnt to sail there, probably a bit silly cos of the offshores. Wooly, Smithy, Dave and I are no longer almond farmers but are all vignerons aka grape growers. The last two years have been a bit poor at Sellicks, our vineyard is called Blown Away but we havent been lately. Here's hoping for this year. Dave, Wooly and Rebecca and I just went to the cocos islands for a holiday. Was ok. Brian is living in Kangaroo Island. I don't think he still sails. Do you remember anyone else sailing at Sellicks?
Regards, Susie

Mate, I reckon you should check the trader for some older second hand gear to get started, or in the east /west coast sales sections. You never know, the local crew might have a bit of gear that they no longer use that might be of interest? We sold our true learner gear last summer to some Goolwa locals, they loved it! Bargain for $200 as well I might ad!

Good luck with your search!

Thanks, I thought the East and West Coast were for people in other states. I've been trying the trading post for a while and there has been nothing apart from some very expensive gear for like 500-1000 dollars which I dont want to pay.
Thanks anyway though!

Yeah it is east and west coast, but shipping is relatively inexpensive if the seller is prepared to do so!

OK thanks however I'd probably want to see it first in real and see it get rigged up before actually buying one. Maybe if I travel interstate I might think of looking at one.
