Does anyone have, or know of anyone wanting to sell any longboards?
We currently have a MOD, and a superlight 2, and are looking for something bigger to replace the MOD.

Equipe II, Pan-Am, F2 Ligthning, Race 380 etc..., or something of similar size

I know these are hard to come buy, and most people wanting a longboard are after one of these few types. If anyone has one and is wanting to sell it, or keeping it for a rainy day and not using it, then we would like to buy it!!

You haven't mentioned WODs, there's a larger market for you with that model. Not as fast and racy as the boards you mention, but WODs have the large volume, and allow some freestyle and fun sailing. There are more of those gathering moss than anything else...

You see them popping up on eBay every now and then.

Perhaps you could ring up some sailing clubs around the place. I've noticed some of them have older windsurfing gear in storage that don't appear to be used all that often. Its probable the club would be keen to get them out of storage and could put you in touch with the owners.

We have been sailing on the WOD, but enjoy the raceboards more. I reckon they're alot more fun in 20+ knots!!

Wow! A Bic Be-Bop!

I raced one in the late 80's, and while it couldn't beat the Cats upwind it wasn't at all a bad shape.

The construction and fittings were another matter. The A.S.A. skin would usually crack along the seams near the front from flexing, and once the water got in it would remain waterlogged, and weigh a ton.

The mast track was a horror! It was all plastic with two rails over which the plastic slider fitted. At the first knock (mast falling over board) the leverage would snap the slider lugs, and you swam back in.

The sliders were £9.99 (in 1986) and I almost used the shops entire stock of them!! I used to fit a spare one to the track ready for a quick change over at sea when the inevitable happened. Eventually, the plastic rails of the track itself softened up with use, and the sliders just kept popping off of their own accord,

The problem was cured by pulling the lot off the board and drilling two holes right through top to bottom, and shoving a couple of steel bolts with big washers up through the board. An ordinary short board base was bolted on top, in the most used position. No more breakages. (And to hell with the waterlogging.)

The Bamba with Ace Tech construction and proper robust fittings replaced the Be-Bop. I still have that one undamaged, twenty years later, so Bic had certainly come of age with their Ace Tec construction. The pity was they never applied it to the Be-Bop. I'd have loved one of those to use again now.

PM me about an Equipe 2 that may be for sale in NSW.

Don't worry, it's not mine..... mine got lighter all the way through the nationals because the outer skin was falling off more and more every race!

As you'd know, the Equipe is significantly better for someone 75kg+ than the MOD, unless the wind is hairy in which case the MOD would be quicker. In light or marginal stuff under my 77-78 kg the Equipe 2 is about 5% quicker around a course, although the actual boardspeed isn't that much higher; it's just than in the MOD you don't go as well downwind or on the reaches unless it's windy, so you start getting into bad air from mid-fleet lightweights and then having to try to gamble to get back to the front.

PS - off the top of my head, I don't think that model Lightning was as big as the MOD.

Too true you re bee bop and nearly all those PVC boards

Hi Guys,
i've got a Jim French custom race board that's been sitting in the garage for the last 10 years or so. Just could never really bring myself to parting with it, but i guess the time's right as long as it goes to a good home

It's in good nick and was WA state champion in it's day and anyone who knows these boards knows what they're like.

if you're interested, drop me an email and i'l let you know more.
