Can you repeat that comment for those of us who are visually challenged in the colour range of the visible spectrum.

you know what I always notice about the pics of some of these places is the perceived gentleness of the wave face.
The waves never appear to be as steep as they are here in WA.

Is that just an anomoly of photography or are the waves slopier???

Dont get me wrong, my utmost respect goes to anyone sailing/surfing this size stuff .... anything over knee height scares the crap out of me.

I went out the other day and the waves were throwing out a big old lip - there was no way to get out! Crumbly waves look much easier to get out through (although those waves are quite big).

It's actually a composition. The photo shoot took place in a STUDIO with MULTIPLE LIGHT SOURCES, as you can clearly see from the amount of detail in the shadows. Scientists have calculated the albedo of water as around 0.1, which CLEARLY CAN'T CREATE THE DETAIL shown in the photos.

Secondly, have a close look at the angle of RC's board to his sail. This board is nearly vertical, whereas his mast and sail are angled in such a way that the foot of the sail must be passing THROUGH the deck of the board, in order for the board and sail to be in that orientation.

Third, the horizon is missing from the shot. This implies that the camera was taking the photo from BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE SEA, which is clearly impossible.

In other news, has anyone noticed that the original moon landing films have gone missing

neb, you've lost it

by the proximity of the breaking lip just behind him, I would say that move was called the "thank ****, just made it up that one without going over the falls"
