whilst not rs5 specific, most sails you can cut a small v in the cam where it contacts the batten pocket.

they call em cam/batten shims, i didnt know if the rs5's would have em from the factory... imo they shouldnt as they should be made to perfectly complement the recommended mast and should only be required for different masts or when the sails stretches. Increasing cam pressure can in some cases increase mast curve, you have to be carefull modifying the bottom cams because of this (it can upset the set of the bottom section of the sail).

Are using the right amount of downhaul. Measure your extention against a NP extention to get the right measurement. I got an RS6 8.4 this weekend and the gods sent a NE 20kt+ wind on Sat to test it out. The first time I was short of the downhaul true measurement using a Chinook euro pin ext. The rotation was terrible. The next day went out again with the correct measure and it rotated a lot better. There was no wind the second day yet it popped through with a lot less effort. Also if your sail is new they stretch after a couple of uses. My previous 2005 V8 took about 5 sails to settle in. After that it was great. I suspect these race sails are the same.

Just Caloundra passage. Very nice mid winter sail. Check out Spitfire channel on BOM. A good crew showed up too. Used a 34 cm fin most of the afternoon as the 41 was lifting board out and tail walking. I nearlly went to Kirra after reading the posts here to try out wave sailing on the Gold Coast. But the arrival of the RS6 was to compelling. What is the best wind to sail Kirra. Can't imagine sailing there.
