Was just thinking it would be good to have a racing section on seabeeeze so it would be easy to see whats happening around the country in one spot rather than having to check all the different states. Could incorporate all the classes plus tips, technique, gear etc. Kiters have a racing section now and I reckon its good idea.

Sausage I think he meant racing as in Formula / long board?

Great idea.

There has been a resurgence of interest in Formula racing in WA and we look set to have a reasonable size fleet this summer.

It would be good to have a Forum dedicated to the racing scene to share tips and technique.

That exactly what i meant, formula raceboard slalom and all the one design classes.

An example could be the Aust Mid Winter Champs starting on Thursday this week of which techno 293 is a part of. Probably not to many people know its happening but theres kids from all over the country entered some as young as 12 or 13 and its predicted for over 20 knts three of the four days so should be an awesome regatta. I know it doesnt affect to many people but Im sure most would like to know its on and see some pics etc

I'd also like to see a racing category. That way we can post all the details about events across the country in one spot. It would be good for sharing ideas, info, etc.

Last season we had a small racing circuit in Melbourne. Would be good to have a dedicated racing forum, to promote everyone's local racing, plus see what happening around the country.

Great idea..

There are pros and cons with creating more sub forums.

The pros have been listed. The con is mainly the fragmentation of discussion. This could lead to forums becoming dead along with less cross fertilisation unless there is a critical mass of participants to keep the forum alive. For example there may be a discussion on harness line length or a new race sail. This sort of discussion is probably relevant to many windsurfers who don't race and are not interested in racing. So they may miss out on reading about whats going on or won't share their thoughts, because its in the racing forum.

This fragmentation has happened a bit with the wavesailing forum.

What about the upcoming event service on Seabreeze? Sometimes races are announced there.

Edit: having a racing category to use to filter threads could achieve a similar result to having a separate forum.
