G'day, just gotta transfer to brissy, what's the sailing like off Redcliffe/Margate/Woody Point/Sandgate areas.
Any problems like jellyfish/weed/deepchop etc???
Where's the best flatwater blasting and the best swell (if any) or is it better down Manly/Wello ??
Thanx any feedback muchly appreciated

Wello is the best for flat water and you can sail in any direction.
tide can be a prob though.Manlys not to bad at low tide if you don't mind walking you gear down the rock wall.Jellies and weed are just about everywhere.some other flat water spots are Caloundra and the Broadwater if you don't mind the travel.
No flat water at Redcliffe but some nice chop jumping and isn't tide affected.

Wello by far

That is, ignoring the interesting tide times and lack of water sometimes, but overall, a great spot for all!

Wello good swell in a SE. Plagued by kiters in NE which sort of kills the flatwater sailing unless early in the day, also a little less consistent than Manly. Only spot in brisbane worth while sailing with anything W in it.

Deception Bay (Scarborough next to Redcliffe) has a good fetch in a westerly. Bongaree (Bribie Island) is also good in SW.

Redcliffe has GREAT bump and jump in NE or SE but no flat water. Redcliffe seems to get a knot or 2 more in NE and Wello/Manly get a knot or 2 more in SE, probably due to the local heating effect of the city - good to remember on marginal days. Wello in a strong NE and low tide gets a surf like break at the end of the channel leads with smooth water between wind waves with a longish period, nice.

At both Wello and Redcliffe you have to watch out for the rocks and some local knowledge can save you some pain.
