Samio, I don't see any anti kiter posts, They're just saying kiting isn't as hard on your hands as windsurfing is. Most people would take this as a plus for kiting. If you want to make kiting hard on your hands you could always wrap the bar in sandpaper!

1: I too have often wondered why people bother to surf when it is windy. If it was cross off and 12 knots I could understand but otherwise forget it. Surf in the morning or at dusk, not when the wind is blowing.

2: If I am in the water, paddling out on a surfboard, swimming for my rig, waterstarting etc and another sailor or kiter or surfer rides past close me and a little splash of water gets in my eyes I really don't care because, guess what, I am already in the water.

3: Both sports are very difficult and take a long time to get good at. When you first learn to kite it is very easy compared to learning to sail a short board, but when you start riding well powered and un-hooked it uses all the muscles and gives you more hand wear than sailing on flat water.

4: I think deep inside all kiters who can't windsurf still must acknowledge how impressive 'good' wavesailing is. So many good kiters are ex windsurfers. Robby Naish, Elliot Le Boe, Jason Stone, Mauricio Abrue, Stuie Martin, Matt Tobin etc etc etc

5: Same ocean, same wind, same thrill, different method of propulsion.

Sounds like someone shat in your sail bag fish!!!!

I do sail dude, and I have the common sense to respect other people in the water. It's people like you that give sailing a bad name. Change your attitude and grow up!!!!!!!

Children, children, children! Why must you fight so??????
I'm sure fish & Mike, if you'd just met on the beach, you'd really like each other. In stead for no good reason you start verbally abusing each other, sometimes I wonder about this forum?

this forum for some reason brings out the person im not
im not much of a vocal person and do have a quiet/shy personality
but being able to write my thoughts seems to work better for me
but still there is nothing worse than dodging surfers through the line up
sorry mike

That'd be good, there's the odd very small wave starting to break now, and it's supposed to keep lifting the rest of the week, let's hope the wind does it!

Here we usually only share the waves with surfers when the wind is light, and there's no more than 3 or 4 of them out. I try to stay out of there way, but don't appreciate it if they try and drop in, just past the lip I'm about to hit, they might hear from my dark side then!!!
As soon as there's more than 3 or 4 sailors out the surfers don't get many waves after that, they normally give up and go in.

where i sail it happened a couple of weeks back
it rarely happens
about 4 surfers paddled out in 18/23 knots south wester
there was about 12 to 15 of us out
who knows what these guys were thinking?
not just me but everyone was getting pretty frustrated
trying to jump was a hassle as they were always sitting behind the wave!
bottom turning was more like snaking your way around land minds
trying to hit the lip was impossible
so 'spray the surfer' was had by all
and after half an hour i think they got the message
im over this now so blah blah blah
ill be in ******** on thursday so ****** might be the go?
if the swell doesnt quite make it elmo said i could use a gps
anyway catchya then
peace

Aaah fish how times have changed, it only seems like yesterday that we would sit out at margarets and complain about the "wind ****ers" that came out as soon as the breeze came in, look at us now!!! are if your coming down on thursday give us a ring, I will definitely be around this time and am still keen to get any tips, although I doubt I will join you and decrep in the waves just as yet.

Hey fish,mr big wave bluff hero.some people enjoy getting in the water weather its onshore slop or not, some people do it for fitness others for winding down after work. Not everyone needs 6 foot offshore perfection to enjoy the water.Does the sign say "strictly windsurfing"if not dont you think it`s our obligation to ensure the safety of the other water users?"spray the surfer"=TOSSER,keep your distance or we will be costantly talking about incidents on this forum. And maybe next time at the bluff leave your attitude up there!

Oneday Fishguts you'll spray the wrong surfer.

After removing his leggie, he'll line you up in his sights, submerge his board for max thrust,
and spear his stick right thru your sail.

That would be so pretty to watch.

Odd waist high today, US navy says swell's increasing. BOM says decreasing, seabreeze says small increase. So won't be brilliant, but if there's only a few of us, it could be fun.

What we need to do is get Eric Ripper (the porn star treasure'r, that mo cant be real!!!!!!!!) to tax water use, after all its a resource thats being exploited by youse unforgiving abusers. I suggest a system similar to a carbon credits, whenever a water user enters the water, surfer, windsurfer, kitebagger, swimmer, whatever, a book is kept logging the time location and specifity of the usage, ie quality of the conditions, quality of the session etc, at the end of the year a credit request is retuned to the state revenue department with a request for a DEDUCTION, relative to the amount of ENJOYMENT accrued against the relative misery of the rest of your pedants lives. So when you use the water for your enjoyment you gain credits against the boring mediocrity of existence generally and create an offset to the misery scale.
Simple really................then we start feeding them JUICE, hahhhahhahahahhahahahahahahhhhhahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahaaaaaaaaahahahhhhahahahhhhhhhhhhhhahahahh
