I have a new Kult 5.8 and rigged it with the nominated downhaul (450) but if I was to use the outhaul specified (188) it appears to be extremely tight and nearly impossible to pull out that far. I ended up setting the boom at 182 but in 8 - 12 knot winds the lower battens would not rotate around the mast. The end of the lower batten sits just over 1/2 way across mast. The end of the batten above the boom is also across the mast a little. The top of the leech is nice and loose so I dont think it needs any more downhaul.

Has anyone else one of these sails that can tell me if I am close to having it set right?

Do I just need to wait for more wind?

Have a squizz at the KA web site forums, they have discussion groups on their different sails which are normally a pretty good help

OceanBlue64 - Not sure if this is of any help or not but I have a 07 Kaos, which I think is very similar to the Kult. Even with plenty of downhaul (very loose leach) and a great deal of outhaul I find the bottom batten still sits next to the mast and doesn't rotate smoothly. I think I may have asked the very same question when I purchased my Kaos but I don't recall having had much of a response. Having said that, my newer Ezzy sails still need a gentle pump to rotate the bottom few battens in lighter winds.

OB64 , Can you send me a private message and I will give you my email address . If possible take some photo's of the sail rigged and I will give you my 2 bobs worth . If you are anywhere near Sandringham drop around and we will rig it . I have the kids in the morning so will be stuck at home .

I guess you are rigging on a Standard dia mast ? can you tell me what brand .
I am rigging mine on a skinny but have rigged them on both .

hey dude, read my post in this thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33308

I think basically in most cases, use the numbers printed on the sail as a rough guide, you need to look at your sail to fine tune it.

I think its normal for a stiffer sail not to fully rotate when changing tack.

I was using my NP 6.7 slalom sail today and I had to give the bottom baton a kick every now and then to rotate it after a gybe or tack.

I have an 07 Kult and they need plenty of downhaul. Keep going up on your mast base so that when you are fully downhauled the leech between the second and third top batten is loose almost halfway to the luff.

I can't give you any feedback on the batten overlap as I rig my sail on a skinny. Keep in mind the wind you tried the sail in is extremely light so there is not much force to rotate the sail.

I've got a 04 cult and it needs extreme outhaul. I nearly bust a poopa valve each time I outhaul this thing. From memory, the website uses a kult as an example of the signs for correct downhaul and outhaul.
