Hello, Could someone give me some advice, I'm looking for some new wave gear and am not sure what size sails to buy. I'm 69kg, and am looking at getting only two ezzy wave sails. What would be a good size range for perth conditions, what's a good model ezzy sail for my weight and is it worth spending the extra bucks to get a "skinny" mast and base?
Thanks to all.
PS does anyone have any good 2nd hand above gear to unload?

I would probaly go with a 5.3, 4.7 combo, but you may find a few days overpowered. If you wanna sail Winter or up in Gero you'll definitely need something smaller. Might be worth considering other sails.

I've got a 4.0m ezzy in vgc for sale if you want something smaller

I am close to your weight, and sail my 4.7 ezzy probably 70% of the time. I only got blown of the water a few times up at lancelin last year and i sailed most windy days either there or in perth. If your set on ezzy's and can only buy 2 i'd personally go 4.5 and 5.2 (i think these are the sizes they come in). If you can afford to update later on a 4.7 would probably be better than 4.5 because 4.7 fits in better with a 4.2 which is pretty much the smallest you'll need to sail in perth conditions with other than really strong winter fronts.

Im pretty much the same weight as you and i have the 5.3 4.7 4.2 combo. If you can afford a skinny get one, i love mine and so does everyone else who has them. If you like the ezzy style sails have a look at Hot Sail Maui. They have one sail, Smack which is like an ezzy (all Xply, pvc window...) but they are really good for light people. Another bonus is that the 5.3 fits on a 400 mast (424 luff) so you should only need one mast for all your sails as if a 4.7 is going to be used most its proberly a good idea to get the right mast for that one. They would be worth checking out www.hotsailsmaui.com/
Anyway thats my two bobs worth, hope it helps

well beetle,
i agree shmage, go for the skinny mast if you can, it is well worth the extra money, espically when you are like me and land your loops halway through. have a look at the naish boxer, i weigh a couple of k's less then you but i have one in a 5.4 which is enough to get me going in 13-15kn on a 78l board. it also fits in a 400 with 10cm extension. (that's half the reason i got it) but it is a good sail for light weights and has a high clew which helps your down the line a bit in crap surf.
