I used to see the difference as being a sport is something you compete in and a hobby as anything other. Now I see a sport as anything physically involving, sport includes associated reading etc unless you take to windsurf gear collecting which is undoubtedly a hobby

.
The lack of a substantial windsurfing publication in aus has always annoyed me. Freesail was there and in the early days I did enjoy reading it but it is my collection of "Windsurf" magazines that I have kept. The reasons: good technique articles, good gear reviews of a variety of disciplines, good pwa reports and naked... er sorry

. Magazines shouldnt become travel brochures either, focus on one per issue at most but for a reason also say a top windsurfing personality sails there and a short associated interview. Also an Australian magazine needs to focus on all of Australia, around when I stopped reading freesail it tended to focus on WA. For those on the Eastern seaboard we may as well read about NZ or New Caledonia as they are just as close if not closer and just as expensive.
Maybe those pissed with the lack of publications could start an online magazine or something to fill the void
