Yeah, I totally agree with you Swoosh. It's not as though Anna Bligh's popularity could go any lower if she brought it in. In fact she could get herself back into double digit figures.

Sunshine from 6am to 830 pm - you can stay in the water till 9 - you can get a surf before and after worker - can't imagine life without daylight savings - and our curtains haven't even faded with the extra sunshine!!

there always has to be someone who disagrees so here I am haven't sailed much the last few years so i may not be fully informed but when i have been out (usually at queens) most people seem to be gone by 4:30-5:00pm when they could still be out at 6 and packing up under moonlight, so the question is whats an extra hour going to do. I can remmember back in the early 90s(i think) when we had a trial of ds, was packing up at 8pm, then trying to get up for work at 3am the next morn- not good if we get ds in qld it would be better in winter, getting dark at 6pm is better than at 5pm.
Whats the old saying if you don't like it leave (to somewhere there is daylight saving)

Now don't all reply at once and be nice

Summer school holidays letting the kids run amok outside or at the beach till late, evening BBQ and beers in the daylight.
6pm darkness - sounds like the dark ages to me - Joh still rules beyond the grave I think.

It was one thing I remember about a summer holiday to QLD daylight at some stupid hour of the frigging morning, sea breeze messing up the surf by 730 and dark at 630 - is that why all the retire-ees move up there.

With daylight saving you could drive down an hour down the coast and get couple of hours in the surf after work.

No they knew it was voted out twice and still gave it to us = FAIL
It was then voted out again and they stood by the vote (for once) = NOT FAIL

By the way I voted yes and would also vote yes again.

If you own a business simply change your trading hours and have your own daylight saving.

Winter is when you need extra hours of daylight..Daylight saving sucks for country people as it ensures you get home when it is 40 degrees..and the previously lovely quiet mornings are humming with traffic noise..[}:)]
Whoever brought it in obviously lives on the coast as it certainly suits people who want to go to the beach..& if your wondering why Im whinging ( as I sail) Im lucky enough to get out earlier.
While Im having a whinge..when I used to start at 6am youd just start to get up & get a bit of daylight ( 4am ) & then theyd stuff it up & youd be waking in the dark again.Plus as lungs says you stay out playing until late & then have to get up at 4am zzzz...Arh.. that feels better.. Ive had that bottled up for years...

If your one of the "country people" then chances are that you live on a farm... it doesn't matter what *time* it is -> it only matters that you service your farm accoring to the cows (wheat/etc). It make no difference to a farmer if its 2.30am or 10am, they still need to cut that chafe before it gets hot.

In the city, businesses and people need to communicate, thus mandating a common time-of-day for the work hours.

So generally speaking DLS helps city folks do crap after work, but it doesn't harm country folk either, they just do their work at dawn/dusk (which if you take into account leap years, will be few mins different every day anyway).
