Dr FL,

Yep different doctor, The dude I met was in the RFDS. Saw your gear on beach when I went jogging past to rescue Hardies gear when it floated in over buckets. Still can't believe the amount of crew who sailed in over buckets and got away with it.

We were the guys hanging south of gearies towards the point going out to Sharkies.

To the greenies of the world

Still sore but satisfied

Hi Elmo,
can't remember who sailed south of me, but can remember watching someone rescuing someone (Softy?) else on the rocks. I also came in over the rocks once, because it was my first time in Geeries and when I came there at around 11 am, it was sandy over there. But, when I left at about 4 pm it looked quite scary.

yep Twas I, Hardie was the lean mean machine who lugged the slightly perferated sail back, I was on the front of the board.

We watched a I think yourself and another bloke sail straight in over Buckets, one of you steped of the board turned around and had a real good view of the lovely rocks sticking up there.

Normally if the wind isn't so strong or theres a bit more southerly in it, there can end up being a big hole in the breeze, so when you nail that last bottom turn you find you've run out of go, from there it tends to turn ugly. Buckets has kept repairers occupied for a number of years. It's also not much fun on a surf board either.

It was great to see so many people hitting it hard, you'd never have known there was a long time between serious sessions.

Hi Elmo,
what kind of gear do you have. May be you remember someone with a videocamera, that was either my mate or myself. I have some serious action on tape. I am just about to cut it together and give it a good sound. These Severne sails seem to ensure big action, almost all big moves came from these ones.

Fruity Bubs,

If there's any unauthorised videotaping of my pathetic attempts at windsurfing, I'll have your footage and equipment confiscated ........and I'll use all my power as a VIP Mandurah identity to see it happens

BTW without my rescuer, fixer, problem solver, and all-round goodguy buddy Elmo, I'd be totally fked, SO BACK OFF FRUITY LOOPS He's MINE

And as for you Shamey babe, I for one don't need to feel sick watching myself be pathetic on the water, I make myself sick enuff as it is

This is my code speak for welcome to our community, and I wanna see the vid

I will always remember a new guy to gearies taking his first wave and riding it well. Then instead of kicking out, he sailed straight over buckets at 25knots, rode right over the rocks and made it to the beach without being throne off. It was as if he couldn't see the rocks or the beach. Had just a few scratches on his board.

If you think washing your gear on the rocks is tough, try having to swim into buckets with a four foot shore break washing cycle and climing over the rocks with a broken leg. I did and copped three waves on the head sucking me back out as I clawed the rocks before I got dragged to the beach by my mates.

Hi Softy and all others,
Softy, you have a strange way to tell me that you want to see the video...

Ok, I have just finished it, it is 7 minutes long and contains mostly boring Dr. Frontloop waveriding (where no waves are), but there are a few action scenes of others. I have to warn you, if you want to see it, you have to stand my face right at the beginning.

Ok, you still want to watch it, it will be around 100$ for each copy, just kidding. I do not want any money for it, but it will be too big to send it by Email, so I think the best way to do it, is that I burn a CD and send it to you by post. And when we meet the next time you hand me some beer or so.

I am currently trying to find a good codec, any suggestions, I haven't done that for a while.

encode it as divx, its a compressed form of avi, usually is real good quality... get the codec at www.divx.com. Otherwise use mpeg4, but dunno where u get codecs for that... just make sure u make it a decent resolution, coz u could make it pretty big, if u are fitting a 7 min movie on a 700 odd mb CD

avi is just a container.. like mov
divx is basicly mpeg4 its reverse engerneired from it.
quicktime supports all mp4, mp4v2 is supported by everything..
real, vlc bla bla.. all the good players will suport the old mp4.
if you plan to stick it on a CD just make it mpeg2 (it what dvd players use and its better than divx)

you should be able to get 7min of footage down to around 30MB and still keep PAL res with divx, if you are using divx just use the encoder from divx.com there version of divx works with just about everything

there is a program called media cleaner that is excellent for compressing video out.. download.. i think discreet now own it.. can't remember.. i just use the s h i t, i don't follow who seels the technology to whom.. much.. well i do . i just can't remember

or you could make a VCD (usually mpeg1, mpeg 1 will play on everything but is lower quality than the rest ) if you VCD you can stick it in a DVD player also. if you make it too large the data rates will be to much for some peoples computers and it will play like a bag of s h i t..

i say. divx it keep the file size to 30MB max, 13MB would be better, at a lower res (the res doesn't matter so much with mp4 and divx as its ment to be scaleable) post it on a site.. (see if deepfried.tv will host it) and then we can all download it.

Hi,
I am currently using DivX (NIMO codec collection, very good), but as I am going to burn it on CD, size does not really matter. I am currently fighting with my video cut prg Media Studio Pro it sucks. Will have the final version soon.

Adobe Premier Pro is the way to go. I have made a few short windsurf movies using it and the results are great.

Hi vid cutter,
I think you are right, it is time to switch over to Adobe Premiere. I knew that it is better, but I am used to Media Studio and it is hard work to get used to programs like this. Anyway, next time I use Premiere.

Hey Filth,
No none of my movies are on the net. In the proces of putting together a combination of smaller movies to make an all time one. I used to use Ulead Video Studio, but once I got my hands on Adobe, I never looked back. Have fun cutting guys.
