It's meant to show you what is happening on the day by estimating conditions for a location based on nearby weather data (and in Tassie using terrain data to compensate for the effect of hills/headlands etc)

The obs are from BOM, the wave data is meteo-france 8 day forecast which seems to line up reasonably well with the BOM forecast, at least in open ocean areas
