Was driving past, stopped for a look saw you ripping apart a half mast and thought mmm might give that a go.
Terrible place, lots of rocks, crowded, waves not pitching enough, gusty wind on the inside, rigging area way too small, surfers boogers and kites all in the way, I'll never sail there again ever and I would never recommend anyone else bother with the place.
You made the right call going to work today Greenroom.

Sailed Lano on Sunday.
Really good day.

I'm still a bit confused about 'right of way' on a wave.
So many times i'd catch a wave and someone would come round behind me and join the same wave further up then go down the line towards me. In the end I thought 'stuff it' and stayed on my tack. Other wise I was going to catch and learn nothing.
There were bloody hundreds of waves to choose from so my only conclusion was that its just tw**s getting territorial.

Who were the nutters in the campervan that tried to ram you off the road on the way home?

Windy!
Do you sail Safety Bay?

Seems odd that we all know each other on this forum but havent got a clue who we are in real life. (Matrix anyone?)
Me and Johno (windsurfing247) were both at Lano Yesday. Shame we couldn't say hello!
Whay were you sailing?

hey gary,

i don't know who you are, i did get quite intimate with a fellow windsurfer on a wave..hope it wasn't you. i think the u have to go heaps upwind and go virtually on the reef to claim first dibs on the wave

never sailed at saftey, but wouldn't mind a crack at penguins...

does anyone know the guy who was filming with the helmet cam, rrd wave board and grey tushy rock sail .... i see him at lano and crazys all the time....

(Just to add confusion to the mix!
garynoel is now The Grinch. I was bored of my real name and wanted to be cool like the rest of you guys. )!

I did the equipment section with REG on Local Windsurfing WA..

Re: Lano
Probably was me windy. I got in the way of everyone that day.

What sail did you have up . I had a white/maroon(?) Ezzy wave.

Don't know who the guy was with the helmet cam. Johnno (windsurfing247 - Local Windsurfing WA) has one but he didnt have it that day. He had a Neil Pryde up.

Pengo's is OK when there is a big swell. Bit of a spooky place though and I always feel like the meat in a penguin/seal shark sandwich.
But Avalon and Gearies are the places to be for the winter swells and south westerlies. Don't know whether you know about these places but they sometimes get as good as Lano.

We were up at Gerro a few weeks back and I have to say it wasnt as good as this sunday.
What a day!
Sitting at my desk monday morning I was having an adrenalin craving.
Office work sucks!

The idea is for you to get upwind of other people so that you then have right of way on the wave.
Not letting them have right of way is a bit like in your car not stopping at stop signs and just driving straight out.
When someone spends all that time and effort to get out back, pick the swell, follow it in, line up the wave, go to wave ride and then there is someone in the way is very frustrating. Plenty of info here on the forums as to right of way, if you made the effort to get upwind you would then be in a position to practise your wave riding.
