WAVE RALLY UNVEILS NEW LOGO & BRAND IDENTITY FOR THE FUTUREThe Wave Rally World Championships held in Geraldton, Western Australia has revealed a bold
new logo and brand identity as the event continues to grow in stature, reach and ambition. The
new identity was developed by windsurfer and freelance graphic designer Glenn Haslbeck,
founder of Eh Team Inc Studio.
As Wave Rally moves into its next chapter, the new logo has been created to better reflect the
energy, culture and spirit of the event — celebrating windsurfing, racing, beach culture and the
inclusive Mid-West community that sits at the heart of Wave Rally.
Since its inception, Wave Rally has rapidly established itself as one of the most exciting windsurfing events
in Australia. The event has generated exceptional national and international media exposure and
significant social media engagement — exceeding many windsurf competitions globally that
operate with substantially larger budgets.
“Wave Rally has grown from a simple idea into something much bigger, and it felt like the right
time to invest in a proper brand identity that can carry the event forward,” said Wave Rally
organiser Paul van Bellen. “The previous logo was a borrowed retro Honda-inspired design that
helped get the event off the ground, but with new sponsors, supporters and exciting plans ahead,
it was time to do things properly.”
The new logo features a vibrant colour palette inspired by the natural elements that define Wave
Rally: wind, sand, sun and water. The three horizontal streaks represent a race track, while the
sail shape references a windsurf sail. The design also includes subtle 1980s-inspired cues, paying
homage to the golden age of windsurfing.
A key detail in the lettering is the emphasis on the word “ALL” within Wave Rally. The inflections
across the letters A, L and L are designed to suggest speed, while also reinforcing the idea that
Wave Rally is welcoming to all.
“Glenn has been incredibly generous with his time and creativity,” Paul said. “He is a big fan of
Wave Rally and really understood what the event is about. A massive thanks to Glenn for his
support. The new logo will be used across Wave Rally branding, event materials, merchandise,
digital platforms and future communications as the event builds toward Wave Rally 3, taking place
from 6–10 January 2027, Geraldton, Western Australia.
With a fresh identity and exciting plans ahead, Wave Rally is looking forward to continuing its
growth and welcoming more riders, supporters and fans into the community.
