Anyone out there scoring any wave sailing this winter ?
I can see the only way you could be scoring would be to have flexible work hours ....

Also for the fronty onshore westerlies, what are the best spots around Perth?

yep,
this winter has been great heaps a wind an wave sailing, suppose it's cause I work very flexible hours. Had a few good head high, sideshore sessions in the westerlies down at Bircher Point even works in a NW ideally you need a swell of over 3m forcast. Leightons near the surf club has been great in the WSW. About 400m north of Dutches near the phone box (where the some of the kiteboarders hang out in summer) has been good in the NW but it's starb'rd tack wave sailing.

I've been busy watching windsurf vids beside the fire dreaming of the summer ahead...

Thanks for the informative response Bluey !
I know of all the spots you have mentioned except for Bircher Point ?
I assume that a lot of us are in the "Alex" category whereby winter sails are few and far between. I think I have only sailed 4-6 times this winter and two of those were pretty forgettable experiences. But next time we get a big westerly I'll be trecking off to Bircher ....

Winter sailing is great.. Some of the best days to be had. No glare from the sun and no sunburn...usually quite warm in a nor-wester. Crazy Waves (south fremantle) is a great place to have fun. [}:)]

no worries cougar. It gets lonely out there in winter. I call it Bircher Point only cause thats what it's called on the road map.
