I'm Just throwing the idea out there, far too stressed to do anything about it, won't even look at this thread again, coz that's what I'm hanging on by!!!.

A coupla dudes who have the passion and time can run with this.....

Here's what it could look like. You guys create it...... Same philosophy as GPS event. Use of technology and the interent. What you need is a video camera instead of GPS, and a website.....

Teams from all over OZ, team vs team, relationship building...

Method, video tape instead of gps. 6 categories best waveriding, best wave, best wave wipe out, best technical jump, highest jump, best bail out or splat. Something for everyone.....

Registered users vote/judge in each 6 categories, with rules about voting, only registered voters, eligible. So the wsurfing community is the judge. UTube type format.....

Website hosts and ratings done on that by registered voters/judges, sponsors get to advertise their stuff, competitiors win prizes just for entering, trophy for overall winner.

Get the drift?

Look what we've created with the GPS stuff, there's a potential here too!!!

Last I want anything to do with it, other than being in a team myself, good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't pm or email me!!!!!!

Trouble is, when it's honkin', there ain't no-one who will want to hang around on shore with a video camera. And would you have one person videoing per sailor? And what about places where the break is a long way from the shore?

At least with the GPS you're responsible for your own data...

And this has nothing at all to do with me wanting a total monopoly on all team-based events mwa Ha HA HA HA HA HAR !!! [}:)]

I think thats a fully ill idea Hards. I sent you numerous emails and pm's regarding this thread But I dont have the motivation for the organising or running of the challenge. And getting the footage would be impossibubble. Deciding who would be behind the camera and finding a big zoom on a camera would turn into a shish fight
Hows the GPS section going anyway Hards?
Im yet to click onto that section. And Im planning on never doing it
Has anyone else achieved this great accomplishment?

Why - because it never blows when a wave contest is organised
- Team - this means one of the guys has to do the Camera work swapping each time.
- Make it a 'time stamped' maximum 5 minute un edited slice of the best performance on the day
- you get rated by your peers rather than a stooge judge or we could have 1/2 the rating coming from the judging panel and 1/2 from the public
- Because it woudl catalogue a great history of wave sailing on video.
Why not - because it's too hard to organise

There is a comp already run on a similar format in Europe. They use 1 minute of footage.

www.boardnerds.de/

Similar format could be used for teams. Using an SMS message service to notify people of location and date based on weather forcast could work. This would mean you could con someone with a good camera into filming for the day.

Sounds like a good way to get the wives, or more correctly, non sailing partners, involved.

"Hey sweets, were running this comp thingo and need a camera person, its the most important job of the comp!" they love compliments like that

Hmmm Im still alittle confused Decrep
Are you referring to me saying that I have never clicked on the GPS section?
I did say that the wave challange was a sick idea but Im not the person to have the drive or skills to organise that kinda stuff. Thats why I dont work for myself. I would never work

Well, Hardie starts off by saying, he's very stressed, doesn't want any communication about this thread.
You start that post by saying you've sent him numerous stuff about it.

Then you go on to imply that all the work he's put into the gps challenge is a waste of time.

Hardly what a stressed out guy needs from a mate.

It was a joke Decrep. I didnt send him a single email or PM. I was just trying to be funny In fact he just sent me a PM to see how I was.
And I wasnt implying that his efforts are a waste of time. I asked him how hes going with it. He knows my passion is wave riding. I dont have speed boards, cammed sails, GPS or the technical knowledge to 'talk speed' therefore I dont read that section of the forum. Im a bit outta touch with the challenge thing to tell you the truth. I didnt know that Hardie was even running the challange.
Anyway I dont want to argue about this. Sorry If I have offended you Decrep. I hope your still my mate

Everybody is being too nice now. Yek.

I'll hijack this thread and say speedsailing is gay. Almost as bad a kiting. And the Dockers are better than the Eagles. And vote Greens in the election. Now lets get back to fightin'

Of course greeny!!!
I should have realised it was your strange sense of humour!!!

You didn't offend me, but I thought hardie may have been.
If I didn't like you I wouldn't bother pointing out, (what I thought was), the error of your ways.
