Have ur say on the kiters all you want but leave us golfers out of it, we never hurt anyone....

No problem with golfers - they've never caused the closing of beaches, plus they don't leave their crap all over the place and cry when you trip over it.

I have a question. What's with the "go as fast as I can through the middle of everything with no thought to what else is happening" thing that sailboarders do?

You know when everybody else is carving about on waves and having fun and some grim faced hard core windsurf dude blasts straight through the middle of everything in a dead straight line, usually to fall off on the inside.

It's not just a kiter vs sailboarder thing. Sailboarders do it to other sailboarders too. Today at Ricketts (epic by the way ) guys were gybing straight into the pack of resting boarders on the inside.

Similarly, a kiter does a humunguous jump and a sailboarder rides flat out straight into the impact zone. Sure the kiter needs to be more careful but does the sailboarder have no sense of self-preservation? It's placing a lot of faith in the skills of kiters to expect an airborne kiter to haul on the brakes and land somewhere else.

Just to be fair, you do get a lot of kiters who block people in. The ones who seem to ride straight at people trying to launch off the beach or sit in the blind side, apparently expecting people to ride up onto the side.

Most poledancers come from a sailing background where they use to sail cats , or what ever, around little marker bouys.
They have never had to go into the surf zone,so they have know idea of the rules of riding waves as the kiters do.
Most of the kiters come from a surfing background,so know the right of way rules for surf and how to actual surf a wave.

^^^ so far from the truth.

A lot of kiters took up the sport because they couldn't do either windsurfing or
surfing (properly). Kiting is easier on the body and easier to learn. Very evident when you see the 50yo overweight business man roll up in his Audi A4, sporting helmet, goggles, vest, harness, gloves, steamer (in summer), booties and boardshorts over the top (having only taken the sport up in the last six months). They're doing it to try and impress the house wife with the new 'cool' and 'extreme' sport - "look at me, look at me".

Lame as...

Again check your spelling. 'no idea' not 'know idea'.

Poledancers come from a sailing background and most kiter come fro a surfing background.
Thats gotta be the biggest load of bull**** Ive heard in a long time!!!!!
Most kiters around here have no idea of the surf rules or etiquette or even simple right of way or "do the right thing" rules. The kiters who come from a windsurfing back ground are the exception, they are fine and we co-exist.
Like Peto said, Its the "look at me" (like most jetski drivers) that give the bad name.
Most of the windsurfers I know and sail with come from a surf back ground and know the unspoken rules, its a beach thing. If they dont, they soon learn and are either told or shown.

thanks for helping with my spelling,I do mean that.
You will see it get better as time goes on ,so big pat on the back to all of you that have helped

Anyway, I was down the beach today and over heard two old pole dancers talking to each other, think it was rider5 and bender. This is what I heard.
Bender said.
''How do you really feel? I mean, you're 75 years old, how do you honestly feel?''

rider5 replied,
''Honestly, I feel like a new born baby. I've got no hair, no teeth, and I just peed myself."

Thats in NSW maybe, where it gets over 20knots maybe 2 days a year.

In WA there are only a couple of old dancers that can actually botom turn and carve off the lip, they have a surfing background. All the other are just out for a sunday arvo cruise around the bay.
They all know there port and star bull crap, and think it is the same in the waves.
They cause all sorts of problems, then say they are in the right because they are following sailing rules not surf/wave riding rules.
We are slowly clueing them in,
some are cool and keen to work in,
but most are way too old and set in their ways.

Here are 5 ways to know if your a old pole dancer.

Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt doesn't work.
You look forward to a dull evening.
You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going.
Your knees buckle, and your belt won't.
Your Pacemaker makes the garage door go up when you see a pretty girl.

Nah, he's right. I am 37 and am feeling really old. I think I am having a mid-life crisis.

I might sign up for some kiting lessons, this windsurfing thing is hard on my body and I don't mind posing for a camera.

This thread is fed by a 15-yo (from the spelling and arguments) that lives in his mother's basement.
Just give it up. We practice a sport, let's enjoy it. I will pick up kiting, and I mean it, when I hang my booms. Or perhaps lawn bowling, not sure.

Because they are all wandering aimlessly around with their pants half way down their arse, big seppo cap on sideways trying to act and look like home boy gangsters. After having spent 3 hours in front of mummy's mirror getting hair styled and eyeliner on its then time to have a conversation that resembles cavemen having a circle jerk. Grunt, um, sik, fully, bro, ugh, grunt.
Sure beats the **** out of having a great sail then enjoying a coldy with your mates.
