larrakin, you should still bring a wetsuit hood to stop sunburn of exposed areas.

best regards ian.

Well,

Two days out and still there are green arrows on the forecast. Without wanting to draw too much attention it looks good for a meet.

I can't believe it, three weeks of nothing above a sparrows fart and suddenly the heavens align to give us some squashed air, at just the time of the meeting! Hey Gestalt, you don't have Hueys mobile number do you?

How do you get to Wellington Point? Arrows are still decidedly westerly, so I'd be guessing that we'll all be traipsing up there to meet up...

-Pacific Mwy -> South East Freeway down until the Mt Gravatt EXIT (Logan MWY Exit from memory at Mt Gravatt it's called).

-Follow Logan road along and at the interection of Newnham and Logan Road. Turn right onto Newnham Road and follow until you see Bunnings Wearhouse (Upper Mt Gravatt) and go right onto Creek Road.

-Follow Creek Road through until you see the huge Carindale Shopping complex, pass this, and go right at the interesection of Old Clevalend Road and Creek Road onto Old Cleveland Road.

-Continue along Old Cleveland Road through Chandler and Capalaba.

-At the main intersection at Birkdale/ Capalaba (Finucane Road is straight ahead, Old Clev. Road uyou were on and Birkdale Road is to the left), go left around the corner onto Birkdale Road.

-Follow this through until you reach a roundabout, take the second exit (aka straight ahead, not left).

-Continue along Birkdale Road. Go straight ahead at the second round about, and once you reach the end of this road, go left at the Wellington Point district shopping area round about.

-Follow Main road until the end, and waaallaa...

Note:- Go early if you want a park, with winds like this, parking is a dead end sometimes lol

Goodwinds though, esp. if you could follow that!

i've taken a few different routes, and i've found the quickest to be to take the redland bay road exit off the motorway, just after north beenleigh, head east and turn left at mt cotton road, stay on mt cotton till u get to faunicane road, turn right then immediate left, then stay on that road until u reach water, thats wello

Takes about 1hour and 10 mins from currumbin this way

Gday all

Newbie here so go easy on me. Newish to Brissy (mexican) sailed at a few places but not wello yet. Any special tides needed to sail there? Thinking of giving it a go tomorrow for a few hours (damn exams to study for). I gather this is the only spot if wind has any west in it. What time does the swap meet kick off try to time it to coincide with that. Is it flat water or bump and jump (choppy)? Is parking a nightmare should I go early? Sorry for the spanish inquisition.

Thanks in advance

Hi Luke Wellos best at hight tide, tom after 12.00 should be ok.
The swap meet officially starts at 1.00.
Parking can be a prob but with a forecast of 20-30 knots shouldn't be to many picnic baskets around.
Its mainly choppy conditions but you can get some flatter water on the other side of the bank. hope to see ya there.

Great day,

Loads of windsurfers and kiters out, wind 12-18 knots, bit gusty, but well worth the drive

Barbecue at the end made it all worthwhile (thanks OzWindsurf!), as if finally having a sail after so long with no wind didn't

So good to see so many people enjoying the wind and water, probably equal numbers of windsurfers and kiters, now I know why people rave about the place, about the only accessable place in a westerly. Also good to see a couple of the forumites out there, hello to Eggs and I saw an MK and a couple of AUS's on sails on the water

Those rocks are sharp though. Got a couple of new bits of 'character' on my feet and fin but all good.
I think Gestalt should start up a new weather forecasting service

Good to hear you had fun, high tide South east and North east is where where wello really shines though. Wind at the beacons looked very gusty yesterday... even for a westerly. Sad I missed it, was going to wake up early but stupid safety switch decided to turn my alarm off. The guy with the MK7 sails is albert, my new sails dont have numbers yet... although he does seem to be planing more than me at the moment

hi guys,

was certainly a good day. enough wind for the small board.

i also got to catch up with some guys i haven't seen in a long time.

my feet are a bit sore at the mo too nebbian. but it was great to see you there. you definately have become one of the faithfull. driving a long way to all of the meets. cheers mate.

Christian won the Windsurfingsales Gun mast bag. he was pretty happy. He was one of about 5 new members to sign up on the day. he said the mast bag will be put to good use as he is planning a trip to west oz. cheers bud and the guys for helping with the sponsorship.

Kirk from Ozwindsurf came along as well for some fun. joined in with the bbq until after the sun had gone down. thanks mate for all of your support and putting up the grub.

i got some photos of the day that really show how many people were out, i reckon there must have been about 50 all up.

i will be updating the club website over the next week and uploading some photos onto seabreeze. next meet is pretty much already planned so i will let you all know what's happening over the next fortnight.

thanks to everyone that joined in. without you guys we wouldn't have a club. great to see the list of "repeat offenders" growing...

um, weather forecasting service. i think i will leave that one up to the experts. but i have been thinking it may be time to buy a lotto ticket. we have had good fortune with the wind.
