Heading to Bali with family in Nov.
The last thread I read on it didn't sound great (July 2008)

Has anyone been windsurfing there in the last 12 months?
What is the gear like at Sanur?
Any wind in Nov?
Do I take harness and lines?

What other advice/tips......

Don't loan your board bag to anyone named Rose or Mercedes prior to going.

I looked into it a bit last year. I was going to go over for a mates wedding but didnt end up going. The only place I found (internet) was the Blue Oasis beach club at Sanur beach, Bali.

I went to Bali with the idea of having a windsurf while I was there. I am passionate about windsurfing but when I got there I discovered a more appealing activity to pass the time. Something about Bali that makes ladies behave 'different'

Lol, he is a family man. Don't think his family would approve.

Never been to bali sorry Bondy, only oversea windsurfing place I've seen is Mui Ne Beach Vietnam. Good luck, should be good.

Your sentence construction needs a bit of work - but your spelling is very good! Keep practising here on Seabreeze!

RE:Bali

I took my kiting gear there a couple of years ago in June and July and wind was pretty light.... there was a good French wavesailor out in side offshore winds at Changuu... and saw him really struggling in the offshore winds at Kuta.

The Balinese Olympic windsurfing rep was out a fair bit training on the Sanur side - but fairly light winds - mainly 5 - 12knots fairly weak and gusty - and that was the windy season!?

More talk about it on the kite forums...

Mate it is a terrible place for windsurfing. The wind is light in the 5 - 12 knot range during the windy season. I have spent lots of time over there at the time of year you are going - and got great surf Sanur side (best place to stay if you want to keep out of the crowds) - not as good as June and July - but still good. I suppose if you ride really big floaty boards you may be OK.

So what size mast did you use?

Only person I saw planing in Bali was a lightweight with a huge sail.

just got back from 7 days at sanur beach hotel, beautiful place weather is perfect at the moment, but yeah like others say light winds majority of days between 5/10knots and heaps of kites, i hired gear from blue oasis rip curl school or whatever they call it. take your own gear or a big sail if your going i rented there gear and there biggest sail is 8m. the small boards there are in ok condition dont think theyd ever get used, big boards are crap, pretty constant breeze from 1 till 5 but tide is very low some times. take booties or can rent them. all the sails have lines i took my harness but they will rent you one. other than that id recommend that hotel to anyone it was excellent.

cheers,steve.

Had a short trip to Bali last year in September.

Didn't take any gear, that was a mistake, the first three days Kuta was side off shore 20kts+ from about 10am to about 3pm. Then we went on a boat trip to Sumba, great surf double head high waves for the trip, blown out by 20 to 30 kts winds every day by mid morning to the afternoon, perfect down the line sailing. Not very happy chappy, I was told that the trade wind normaly is not so strong, it would have been the best conditions I have seen for many years, but no windsurfing gear.
