I thought there would be some Bundy sailors on this forum but no one's replying.

The most poppular spot in the Bundaberg area is Eliott Heads, just south of Bargara. This spot works best in south easterlies. It consists of a river estuary with ultra flat water next to a sandbar. As you follow the sandbar along you head out through the river mouth into small surf in a side-onshore direction. The waves there are very forgiving, rarely more than head high. A lot of fun for jumping but too onshore and mushy for down the line wave riding. Watch out for stone fish and sting rays though.

Small lumpy waves can also be found at Bargara, Mon Repos and Moore Park beaches. More serious down the line wave sailing can sometimes be found further north at Wreck Rock on the way to Agnes Water.

I have never sailed in the area on a northerly.

Hope this helps.

The beach at Elliot heads works well in a north easter, a few of the guys up there sail off Bagara but I haven't. Last year a mate and I sailed in the estuary in a north wester which was interesting, especially when it started gusting 40 knots in the afternoon.A few of us are going up there the last week in september, hopefully it will be blowing.

I have done a few runs at Bargara off the beach at Don Pancho'.and have seen other s sailing there in a south easterly . It has a good break off the beach about 250 metres out to the north end of the beach . Watch out on the low tide as there is a rock base exposed under the beach which is a good way to convert your 30 fin to 10 and wear some boots for the same reason .
I was up there for four days last month and the southerly blew between 18 to 24 knots the whole time , good luck .
