Has anyone been to this place, or know where to get costs or book in Perth ?

I saw the article in Jan/Feb Windsurf and tried the website, but can't seem to find any specific details or package costs.

I'm also a bit concerned that you seem to order a board before you get there, and hope you've got the right wind to suit it. I guess I expected dozens of different rigs on the beach that you take you pick from - am I missing something ?

I've been to a Club Mistral in Dahab. Take plenty of $'s it's was really pricey. They had some good gear though. I didn't use them because they were more expensive than other companies on the beach. (Check out other companies) I don't know about choosing a board before you go!! Good luck.

Gidday Grumpy,
Don't know about Mauritius but Club mistral usually let you select a board for the week ,for example a screamer, which is marked as your first choice, you can however use any board as conditions dictate and they usually have more than eneough for everyone.

There are no fins bigger than 26cm though

Here to help

Thanks for the tip on fins - I have never used anything as small as 26 so sounds like I should pack a few of my own monsters.

My brother is organising a tour this winter for a group of sailors, apparently it's just over $3000. I believe gear hire is about $400. You can contact him at [email protected] if you want some more info, he's the full bottle apparently & has been before.

There is limited gear at either one of the 2 rental stations (CLub Mistral and RRD/NP station) Which are next to each other and there is no place to buy gear over there, so reason they don't want you to swap boards is to make sure you dont break someone elses or someone else riding the one allocated to you doesn't destroy yours in which case you will be watching the action from the beach. You can switch sails as much as you like and when I was over there (I rented through the RRD station) plenty of decent riggs were available. My recommendation is to book a waveboard with volume around your weight, maybe 5 lts extra depending on your ability. The wind changes abit throughout the day and you'll be safe that way to max your time on the water. Also inside the reef the wind is about 5 knots stronger than outside so when you slog to the outer reef and back its nice to have abit of floatation to be safe enough. In Juli/August you will have plenty of wind and great waves. It beats Maui in my mind at that time of year and is cheaper and nicer also. Happy to provide further info.

Gday,

I have just returned from my first club mistral experience in Barbados. Although we had to chose a board before we went, we could change depending on availability. There was heaps of stuff.

As it turned out we did not need to book in advance as it was reasonably quiet. As we were in Barbados for 8 days, we were also able to negotiate a deal whereby we could hire gear for 6 days allowing us a few days off in between to explore. We normally got an advanced forecast on conditions and based our days off around this. You also get a book that allows you to accumulate points to redeem on board hire - when you get enough.

If you have a couple of options on stores I would wait to I get there and check both places out for gear and a deal.

Would love to hear your feedback on Mauritius in general as I am getting married in November and have already booked the honeymoon right next door to Club Mistral (I am sure the Mrs will love it.)
