Just moved to Samford, best spots around? Either flat water or waves?

Hi, have you had a quick look on the QLD page? There's rough water at Redcliffe and smoother water at Bribie within a 1/2 hour drive for you. Waves are up at Caloundra, maybe a 3/4 hour drive for you. Enjoy.

This weekend with a SSE turning SE go to Bongaree Bribie island on the outgoing tide up the Southern end of the island. You will get pressure waves in the channel with flat water on the flats at the side of the channel. If you sail about two k's out over the flats until the drop off into the deeper bay you get the swell off the bay ramping up on the shallows for great jumps in shallow water over sand. Pebble beach is good with its flat water but is tide dependant but if you make the effort to sail down the bottom end of the island you will be rewarded with what I consider the best sailing in the bay and I have sailboarder and now kited the whole bay since early 80's. The wind this weekend will be epic for this spot but better still head up the coast for waves.

My fav spot is lake weyba... about 5 km wide and about 2 m deep in the middle, it's a salt water lake that is pretty warm all year round. Accessing from weyba downs you need to carve in past the retreat's point (rocky edge) and from there the wind is always constant.
