This is the BIG thing, and not easy to do here, learn BOTH directions, otherwise like me, you could end up in crutches for a month or so.
Basically the faster you hit and the more vertical and bigger the ramp the higher you will go. There's also the stuff about "ollying" (here's where my spelling shows up, firefox doesn't know skateboard terms) the board just before you leave the ramp, moving the sail forward leaning it over more horizontal and sheeting in, keeping the windward rail and nose up.
You then have 2 airfoils the sail and the board, If the sail is too far back and sheeted in too hard it will send you into a nose dive.
You can get more lift from the sail hooked in, but the stacks are much worse if you land bad hooked up. It's not a bad idea unhooking just before you land till you get confident.

Well, it works for me. Downhaul, downhaul, downhaul. The more downhaul I use, the easier it is to get air, and it's far more controllable. Not enough downhaul and the board feels like it's glued to the water.

in the videos i can see that they use the sail as a foil, but they also have the mast alot more horizontal, is this an other thing i should be trying, by keeping it powered but if i have the horizontal, wouldnt this be like a wing and improve my chances or should i go back to physics class
