Why do we need more windsufers. There is not a free carpark spot down at my local windsurfing spot and i can hardly get a sail without dogiding 100's of boards (Mayb 50).
Hey RAL INN, You might think Windsurfer-sp's question was stupid but I thought it was quite valid.
Why do we need more windsurfers??.......the only logical reason would be a commercial one; more windsurfers means more buck$ in the till. Why would a wavesailor wish for more crew to share the limited waves?
Of course there is always an exception to the rule. Hot chics wearing brief bikinis should be totally encouraged to learn the art.
thats what i've been saying, hot chicks in bikini's uphauling is what it's all about, now common who dosen't want that(hetrosexual chicks and female partners are not required to respond)
I don't know why you're all so worried about sharing the ocean...it seems to me that there's plenty of waves to go around. Every time I head out at dutchies (if there's waves), scabs or Lancelin, I see heaps of OK waves going unridden - so there must be enough to go around. Yeah sometimes it gets crowded, but you know, if no ones doing the sport, and there's no one to sell gear to, where are you going to buy yours from? Maybe you'll have to start making your own boards/sails/masts/booms/mastbases etc. Another thing - the WA coastline is huge - there's got to be (and are) plenty of good uncrowded spots to sail. So if you're still worried about having to share (must be only children) then seek out new places! Or maybe you're scared of sailing on your own?
I have to disagree in reguard to the amount of windsurfers, In tas there are very few windsurfers and therefore no specialised shops, so either we buy interstate or go without, there are a couple of people who buy in stock that we can purchase from but that is limited. I would love to have even one of the shops here that you have in W.A or Vic. It also limits the help you can get from fellow windsurfers while learning, as most times when u go out u are the only one there.
You boys saying you dont want any more windsurfers out there are selfish pricks - why don't you stay with your bad attitude surfing mates. Windsurfing as a sport needs all the help we can give it to survive and develop.
I'm with you JJ! I'll never forget my first trip to Lano, with about 20 guys out. After learning in a secluded estuary near Bunbury/Australind it was a blast! Huge grins and woo-hoo's were going around in the 20k+ winds and it was awesome fun. Reckon I sailed for about three hours straight that day - my longest session at that stage.
Plus, more windsurfers on the water = more people to drag race!!!
WA coast is really long place and those who want a bit of space should always be able to find it!
