Why is it that you can hire a 30 ft cabin cruiser without knowing any basic water rules?
While windsurfing the Gippsland Lakes on Friday I got taken out by one such toolbag who failed to give way and stop and render assistance after I had taken evasive action (and got mashed).
The result....one shredded sail and major damage to my hip...off the water for a month...thanks heaps idiot......
<end whinge>

Were you able to get their details and pass them onto the rental company requesting compensation for damages, for you medical expenses and your equipment? Also you should be contacting the police and requesting them to speak to both the rental company and the skipper of the boat.

If not I'd be contacting the rental company anyway and requesting that their insurance deal with the expenses and advise them you may contact the police if they don't.
