i have been harnessing of but it feels like if i place my feet in the straps my harness is not parellel to my body position and has a tendence to place me of balance. the position of my harness lines are set correctly (by other surfers beech)

i have since bought longer lines (harness)thinking that would resolve it but it hasnt
i only seem to get into the footstraps in high wind on a carve i have to step into them
i have a beginers 135 liter board with a 5.9 sail i weigh 89 kilos

i feel that i am loosing speed when i am harnessed in and loosing manoverability. when i veiw the advanced speed sailors they seem to have there sail back and harness line straight and they are in the footstraps genrally without high wind i constantly find myself in the harness out of the footstraps and forward on the board should i be in the footstraps in low wind aswel ?
i just feel as if im doing somthing wrong as people with the same sized sails fly past me.
it seems when i have got it correct i start to trim out, get the "speed wobbles" and the front of my board comes out the water i just seem to bounce left and right accros the water ending up in the dipper still attached to harness

Sounds like your all out of balance there busta.
Firstly, don't worry about the straps much if your not planing.
As far as the harness goes, it sounds like its too far forward if it's trimming out the sail. Basically if your hooked in and let go of the boom the end of the boom you feel the need to grab first is the direction you need to move your lines. The ideal spot is when powered up the boom can be let go and stay in balance a while, even a tad further back is Ok.
Don't try and use the furthest back footstrap positions until your use to sailing powered up, go for the more user friendly - forward and inboard options if they exist.
When your planing well and hooked in, lean out square to the board not aft and rake the mast further aft, it may all come together in balance

Sounds partly like a case of needing more mast foot pressure...

This will cure the speed wobbles. What's happening is you're standing on the back of the board and not putting enough pressure down through the boom into the mast foot to keep the nose under control.

Think of there being three points of contact with the board - your two feet, plus the mast foot. Hang down through the boom and think about applying pressure through the mast foot onto the board and this will help stop the board from bouncing around, and also stop you from sinking the tail (which takes you off the plane and slows you down) by putting too much weight through your feet into the board.

Don't have time to reply to harness question now. "Matthew" might be able to help more - that's his area of expertise.

sweet ill apply your sygestions next time i go for a surf i just see all the windsurfers rippin it up and i get jeolous.
i think the goal is minimal amount of effort and maximum amount of speed

just seems like the three things are so important for developing a good style and i dont want to start learning bad habbits which will be hard to break
i think that the footstrap positions harnessing and mast angle all contribute
largley to style and some of the advance saliors make it look easy.
ill try and move my harness back a touch im a relative short person
and ill try and apply more pressure/weight upon the front foot

ps; when it get the speed wobbles i seem to laugh at myself i know ill end up stacking it its so fun going that fast i bet people on the beech find my unorthadox noob surfing amusing

anyways thanks for the tips much appreciated i thinkits gona take some time to master.

Busterwa, what location are you sailing at most times? There are a number of seasoned guru's who will help you out.
Went through the same process myself three season back and the seasoned guys showed me some tips and it all came together in about two sessions

If you think your gear is not setup correctly just ask another windsurfer to take your board for a run or two and they can recommend any adjustments.
