Has anyone used a mast extension that goes between the 2 existing halves of your mast,what are they like?
I'de like to try one and a larger sail if its a cheaper option.

The only extenders I know of go on the bottom of the mast. They may or may not be brand specific. Mast bottoms should be all the same diameter so they should work across different brands.
As far as stiffness is concerned IMCS stiffness should stay pretty much the same ie if the mast is a 430/IMCS 21 and you extend it 300 mm you get a 460/IMCS 21.

A got a large sail and the guy threw in an aluminium top extension, which fits a 490 sail to 460. Haven't used it, as I have a 490, but just in case it breaks...
The guy who gave it to me used it a few times and said it works OK. Whatever that means.
